4. Collaborations
Summary of collaborations, thanks to @lmurillom
During this meeting’s collaboration, we worked on three tasks and had a call to answer team members’ questions. We discussed how team members who can’t access Google assets can best work with images, accessibility Accessibility (commonly shortened to a11y) refers to the design of products, devices, services, or environments for people with disabilities. The concept of accessible design ensures both “direct access” (i.e. unassisted) and “indirect access” meaning compatibility with a person’s assistive technology (for example, computer screen readers). (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accessibility); good practices regarding duplicate content; featured images for social; the possibility of story-based social media opportunities and more. Thanks to @webcommsat and @nalininonstopnewsuk for the preparation of collaboration tasks for live during the meeting, async by contributors in other timezones, and by other teams. Thanks too to the project and actions team for providing support during the live and async contribution time.
Tasks:
- Collate notable features of WordPress 5.8 release
- Do you have a favorite feature on WordPress 5.8? We are collating them (document in Slack) so they can be reviewed with Josepha and others for potential use in social or meetup resources/ communications.
- This is an easy task to join for anyone who has just started using WordPress or who can share favorite features which their clients and others are finding useful. You can also take part in the web research and list features that people are enjoying using – at the bottom of the document, you can suggest the feature and the reasons why people are saying they like it.
- Priority can be given to posts on the Block-based Widgets Editor in WordPress 5.8 and the Pattern Directory.
- Add links to social posts
- Add links to the social posts. Some can point to the news pages, others to the field guide, Help Hub information etc. If you are familiar with the release or documentation, this might be an area which you can help us with.
- WordPress 5.8 release media monitoring
- Find and add links about the release in major blogs and social media.
- For new contributors and those who may be less familiar with 5.8, this is a great way of being involved.
