3. Tasks, Working Groups, and Team Celebration
a) Celebrations Thread
This week, the Marketing team has the following achievements to celebrate:
- Our starter tasks are being updated this week. You can always find them on this page and we highlight tasks on Mondays in the Slack channel too.
- On Thursday 4 February 2021, at 20:00 (8pm) UTC, we had a session exploring keywords related to Learn WordPress in the Marketing Monthly Meetup All local/regional gatherings that are officially a part of the WordPress world but are not WordCamps are organized through https://www.meetup.com/. A meetup is typically a chance for local WordPress users to get together and share new ideas and seek help from one another. Searching for ‘WordPress’ on meetup.com will help you find options in your area.. Thanks to all who attended on Zoom, audio or in Google Docs.
- WordCamp India contributor days took place this past weekend (6-7 Feb 2021). We had two days of significant contribution to Learn WordPress on the marketing table in addition to sessions on Thursday and Friday on Slack and video. Thanks to @meher, @webcommsat, @oglekler, @vimes1984, @nalininonstopnewsuk, @yashwardhanrana and all others involved.
- At WordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. India, we worked on #LearnWP marketing, onboarded nine new members, added to our strategy and research work on search related to our priority projects, identified translation day promotion opportunities and planning feedback, gathered feedback and data on the contributor orientation tool, Learn WordPress, Meetup promotions, marketing to developers and post release information, and Meetup communications challenges. We had contributors from across the globe who came to work on tasks and support new contributors. It was a pleasure to work alongside other teams and @webtechpooja and @azhiyadev from Training. Particular thanks to @webcommsat for the preparation and project management of our marketing table at contributor events.
- The first Thursday coffee break of every month is devoted to a marketing and communications topic. If you have an expertise in a particular aspect of theory or practice, and would be interested in sharing your knowledge, please let @webcommsat and @lmurillom know.
- @megphillips91, @webcommsat and others continue working on a Block Block is the abstract term used to describe units of markup that, composed together, form the content or layout of a webpage using the WordPress editor. The idea combines concepts of what in the past may have achieved with shortcodes, custom HTML, and embed discovery into a single consistent API and user experience. Patterns workshop as part of the post release marketing support for Meetups, for Learn WordPress, and as part of our Questions and Answers for the releases. If your Meetup could benefit from this, let them know.

Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged be the repository owner. https://github.com/ for our further work on this.
- We explored the key areas we think should be in the lesson plan and the order of those items based on the problem/challenges work that has already been done. The aim is that the workshop be developed from this lesson plan, so that it all ties in, and serves the needs of all teams involved and what is being asked for.
