Celebrations/Successes From Last Week

  • @yvettesonneveld — I’m proud of Siobhan and I making steps in preparing for WCEU!
  • @siobhanseija — Yes, a lot of people have signed up for the marketing table at WCEU! That’s probably because everyone here is so very awesome. @harryjackson1221 has been preparing the Case studies board for WCEU CD as well, which is great.
  • @harryjackson1221 — I got all of the completed ones moved over, and updated this morning!

Task Lead Updates

  • @harryjackson1221 — The Showcase Action Item Meeting: https://trello.com/c/Fca5jGss/20-meeting-notes
  • We would like to change the meeting date/time to ensure everyone that wishes to contribute has the opportunity to make it. The last few meetings, there have only been a few of us, so I want to make sure we are accommodating everyone. Please let us know if you have any suggestions on a time slot!
  • @aurooba — Editing, improving, and cleaning up the Onboarding page: https://trello.com/c/gpfGvvtf
  • I’ve started making progress on this task from the main card: https://trello.com/c/a6oJqp1S. Big thanks to @abhanonstopnewsuk for her comments and additions as well! I’ve also started organizing the Handbook folder in Google Drive to see what else we can move/change/organize for the onboarding section.
  • @rahuldsarker — Just completed my exam yesterday. I will be working on the showcase.
  • @siobhanseija — Awesome @rahuldsarker, you mean on building the Showcase?
  • @rahuldsarker — I was assigned for proofreading and transferring old showcase to the new TrelloTrello Project management system using the concepts of boards and cards to organize tasks in a sane way. This is what the make.wordpress.com/marketing team uses for example: https://trello.com/b/8UGHVBu8/wp-marketing. board.
  • @yvettesonneveld@aurooba I hope I didn’t throw you off by moving the folders around earlier today…. I have added a lot of documents that, in my opinion, related to the handbook into the handbook folder as well. If anything I missed or a anything else you can assign me.
  • @aurooba@yvettesonneveld no it was perfect! I’ve been moving around this morning and making some copies of those docs into another subfolder to start making major edits too. I appreciated your moving around!
  • @aurooba — Diversity Speaker Training Marketing: https://trello.com/c/eNghs0YZ
  • I had a meeting with @jillbinder and @andreamiddleton yesterday and we started talking about the marketing director for the group. We’ve identified that we want to market to community organizers and help them not only attend the training to be able to run these workshops, but also provide them with outreach tools to help them run workshops successfully. We’re aiming to have outreach tools ready and available for organizers by the end of August.
  • I’ve been keeping it updated in this Trello task as well as the Trello board the #WPDiversity group has. And it looks like I’ll be leading the overall marketing effort for this group.
  • I’ll be creating all marketing materials inside the Marketing group folder in a subfolder I created for the project and will ask for vetting and checks when things are getting to that point.
  • @siobhanseija — I think I had missed this initiative until now, sorry about that Aurooba. Will read up on it! Thanks for keeping us updated so regularly and making use of the Trello cards.
  • @aurooba — I’ll add some more details to the Trello card as an introduction for anyone who comes in after. Thanks, @siobhanseija!
  • Unfortunately, I won’t be able to attend WCEU. But I do have a doc that I need ideas for if there are folks there who’d be willing to help out! We’re looking for feedback from people on the kinds of outreach tools that can be useful for organizers who want to run the speaker training workshop. Here’s the doc: https://docs.google.com/document/u/1/d/15g5-nvP8P1s2OhixaRdQCVhxRMWqCOCyVWimChjubGU/edit?usp=sharing
  • @yvettesonneveld Would it make sense to have a separate Trello column for the time being, for WCEU? Then we could add a card in there for the above request, just for that. Link in there to the overarching project card. So people can, at a glance, see what they could work on that day. The case studies are in a separate board anyway. I can add a bit of an introduction to the doc as well for those who may work on it, to help them understand what’s needed.
  • @harryjackson1221https://trello.com/c/LLPAjAAG/16-transfer-cards-over-from-wp-marketing-board-for-published-case-studies. This task has been completed. Yay!
  • I have also reworked the card descriptions, and checklists for all Case Studies moved over: https://trello.com/c/GxKsjPMH/18-rework-descriptions-for-case-studies-to-ensure-cohesive-and-reflect-the-new-standards-we-are-looking-for
  • Another win!
  • @yvettesonneveld — We’re WordPress People article series on WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/: https://trello.com/c/ZpY2v9Ew
  • We have reached an agreement with Topher DeRosia for featuring some of his HeroPress stories on the news section of WordPress.org. I’m looking for a copywriter, and for this first version, I’m particularly looking for a native speaker (we’ll internationalize this soon, but we’ll need to work out some potential issues first) to edit the original post for WordPress Tone of Voice and to add an intro and outro for context.
