Task Lead Updates
- @harryjackson1221: The following tasks for the Showcase have been identified, and still need attention for anyone that is available, and wishes to help out:
- Get our already published case studies over to the new board to begin reformatting, additional screenshots (New cards). Begin drafting a checklist/playbook for the outreach process – make it a template to be used across all curated content. This is a great way to get started contributing to the Marketing effort here!

- @hedgefield dropped by to share the newest design on Tuesday.
- V4 of the design has a smaller CTA in the sidebar A sidebar in WordPress is referred to a widget-ready area used by WordPress themes to display information that is not a part of the main content. It is not always a vertical column on the side. It can be a horizontal rectangle below or above the content area, footer, header, or any where in the theme., and everyone seems to love it so far: https://www.figma.com/file/YiweOctGcqJ1JBXsjA9vxLJm/WP-showcase-v2?node-id=0%3A1
- Since the goal of this page/section is to convince visitors that WP is a good solution for X, we all agreed this seems more appropriate than the larger CTA that was used in prior designs. We also talked a bit about the organization, and made some additions to the style guide that we are working on – thanks to everyone that is pitching in and helping out with this work!
- @harryjackson1221: Last but not least, there are a few Case Studies that could use an Editorial Pass.
- If you wish to help out, you can use this link to join the board. Add yourself to the card, and set a reasonable due date for when you will complete it. https://trello.com/invite/b/Ono8rTJK/2b1d38f86b07674bd2c554e7417e5b68/case-studies-showcase
- The following are ready for editorial review (Please do so in suggestion mode when inside of the doc https://support.google.com/docs/answer/6033474?co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop&hl=en:

- I am sorry I have not had a chance to finish @makewebbetter – Work has been busy, and things just seem to keep getting in the way!
- For these, we have decided to now combine the Obstacles and Challenges section, to make them flow better when reading. We will extract quotes from the content as well, to add to the visual element of the single posts. Since they were written prior to that decision, we may have to help jump start that when making suggestions.
- @siobhanseija: Ah please be aware that something went wrong with the first two case studies: somehow the person doing the Zaib dot Case study ended up also writing the Mimimi games Case study! So that’s two on the same subject, and none on the Zaib dot, for now. Probably worth combining both efforts rather than editing just Mimimi.
- @yvettesonneveld: I think the case study @Maziar worked on needs an editorial pass, too: https://trello.com/c/Nn1iSkQ7/7-case-study-for-land-trust-alliance-by-2-dogs-media
- @siobhanseija: I’ll see if I can try and squeeze doing an editorial pass in this week! If any others feel up for it: please do! We have some lovely content ready for publishing here. Especially when we get the new Showcase online it’s great to have more content.
- @maedahbatool: WordPress Translation Day 4 Blog Post
- Trello Project management system using the concepts of boards and cards to organize tasks in a sane way. This is what the make.wordpress.com/marketing team uses for example: https://trello.com/b/8UGHVBu8/wp-marketing. Link: https://trello.com/c/y60QTWFc/261-wordpress-translation-day-4-blog-post. Draft is in the Make blog. Currently, @webcommsat is going through the final writing, proofreads and edits. I think if all goes well. We’ll publish it today.
- @webcommsat: WordPress Translation Day – There is also some work on collecting quotes before and after the event, do let me know if you would like to help with this. Materials and text for @joostdevalk have been drafted.
- @siobhanseija: https://trello.com/c/sKuxBsjX/232-video-blog-4-using-wordpress-for-blogging
- I think this needs some last editing by myself and I hope to finish that for publishing end of this week.
- @webcommsat: Subtitling – we are gathering examples for the WordPress Translation event on Saturday to show the value of subtitling, how subtitling using Amara or other software is easier than people think, and how it can be used for translation / greater reach in different languages. Please contact @siobhanseija and I if you have an example.
- Plugins and crisis communications task – there has been some considerable changes on this task. We had to postpone the scheduled meeting as there are some queries that have emerged on the scope and data sources. @webcommsat to discuss this with @siobhanseija and @joostdevalk to follow up discussion with plugins team, and to confirm direction. The meeting will then be reorganized.
