Celebration/Achievements in the Last Week

  • @siobhanseija — Working with @harryjackson1221 on a separate TrelloTrello Project management system using the concepts of boards and cards to organize tasks in a sane way. This is what the make.wordpress.com/marketing team uses for example: https://trello.com/b/8UGHVBu8/wp-marketing. board to manage the case studies, I think it’s looking good already! Should make it easier to dive in, rather than find one between all the other Trello cards.
  • @harryjackson1221 — I started moving over some cards too, especially the instruction ones for formatting, style guide, etc…
  • @abhanonstopnewsuk  — The feature on why people should contribute is due for publication shortly. Thanks again to everyone interviewed, supplied pictures, reviewed, added sections and researched items, and worked with @Maziar and myself.

Task Lead Updates

  • @Siobhanseija — https://trello.com/c/xSdYhWbQ/243-why-you-should-contribute-to-wordpress @abhanonstopnewsuk just mentioned this in the celebration thread already. It’s finished but for a photo from a contribution event outside of Europe, we now got a few of those via Twitter. Will finish the post asap, run it by @abhanonstopnewsuk for a final check and then publish it.
  • @harryjackson1221 — *Case studies* These are great for anyone that enjoys writing or wants to get started contributing! No one has started on these three yet, and everything will be checked by the team so anyone can get started without any worries! These are answers to a survey, that need to be written into a blogpost. They might end up on the WP showcase as well. We have a new board where these will live, but for the time being, they are still on the main board.
  • @abhanonstopnewsuk — Need help: a couple of specific questions on the sponsor feature which is now being reviewed with community to gather feedback for the handbook. If anyone has experience of being a Sponsors Lead at a WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more., this would be very helpful to answer these questions. Thanks to Sheila (sorry not sure of your MakeWordPress ID) who reviewed the issues yesterday and she will be posting the specific questions on the google document by tomorrow. Thanks. @siobhanseija I have asked her to send you the questions too.
  • @harryjackson1221 — I would also like to set the next meeting up for the Showcase Action Plan. We missed the last meeting due to most of the group falling ill, but hopefully everyone is feeling better now! I will set up a Doodle today to figure out the best time, but if you wish to join just send me a DM, and we can get you added!

New Business

  • @zetaraffix —As you know we are working on WPTD4 … we are not yet ready to go full blown until we are online but I’m asking as of now, once we do, to get as much love from you as possible for this project … in 2017 we got very little, even though we reached out and asked… now that @joostdevalk is here I hope that when the time is right we can have all your voices raised to celebrate the work of the Polyglots, who are a team that greatly contributed (and contributes) to bringing WP to have the market share it has today … that’s all from me now… in a few weeks we’ll pop in and ask you to holler!!! (and thanks for all those already helping out!)
  • @maedahbatool — @abhanonstopnewsuk & I working on a blog post about WPTD4. Set up the trello card. I am currently on mobile so could not share the card link.
  • @siobhanseija — Chatting to @joostdevalk earlier today, we thought of a new card. We’d like to collect success stories for GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc. https://wordpress.org/gutenberg//the blockBlock Block is the abstract term used to describe units of markup that, composed together, form the content or layout of a webpage using the WordPress editor. The idea combines concepts of what in the past may have achieved with shortcodes, custom HTML, and embed discovery into a single consistent API and user experience. editor! So if you know of any great sites that were built with it, or of people having awesome user experiences, please do share! I set up a (now near-empty) doc in this card: https://trello.com/c/rxPkzo2V/263-gutenberg-success-stories
  • @abhanonstopnewsuk — WordCamp Nordic CD day https://trello.com/c/EBGBbpE0 During the day and the last few days, 5 new potential marketing videos have been added, some with comments. Many WordPress.TV videos were subtitled by the accessibilityAccessibility Accessibility (commonly shortened to a11y) refers to the design of products, devices, services, or environments for people with disabilities. The concept of accessible design ensures both “direct access” (i.e. unassisted) and “indirect access” meaning compatibility with a person’s assistive technology (for example, computer screen readers). (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accessibility) team and the subtitling article we wrote in marketing was shared.
