**Notes Taken By**: [@harryjackson1221](https://profiles.wordpress.org/harryjackson1221/)

## **Announcement from 󠀁[@joostdevalk](https://profiles.wordpress.org/joostdevalk/)󠁿**

**_We are changing the time of the weekly meeting to 7AM PST, or 15:00 GMT. _**

We began the meeting by discussing the [team process](https://make.wordpress.org/marketing/2019/01/23/team-process/),
and the time of our weekly meetings.

The main point of the article is that the meetings are for reporting, and not mandatory
for team members to attend. We are using the channel for discussions, and when they
lead to decisions, we are going to be posting them on the make.wordpress.orgWordPress.
org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users.
This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes
as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. [https://wordpress.org/](https://wordpress.org/)/
marketing blog.

All of the team reps for Marketing will have editorial access moving forward. This
way, when we post updates for the team, anyone has the opportunity to chime in via
the comments, and it is easier for people to keep track of the team’s movement.

## **Celebrations This Week**

 * @joostdevtalk shared that [https://wordpress.org/about/roadmap/](https://wordpress.org/about/roadmap/)
   has now been updated, and [https://wordpress.org/about/history/](https://wordpress.org/about/history/)
   has had its first iteration (moved the version history there from the roadmap
   page).
 * [https://wordpress.org/about/testimonials/](https://wordpress.org/about/testimonials/)
   is now working again and [https://wordpress.org/about/features/](https://wordpress.org/about/features/)
   will be updated later today or tomorrow, the new copy for that is completed.
 * We published a blog post [@abhanonstopnewsuk](https://profiles.wordpress.org/abhanonstopnewsuk/)
   wrote outlining ways peopple can become part of the WordPress community [https://make.wordpress.org/marketing/2019/01/17/so-many-ways-to-be-part-of-the-wordpress-community/](https://make.wordpress.org/marketing/2019/01/17/so-many-ways-to-be-part-of-the-wordpress-community/)

## **Task Lead Updates**

**A Short History of WordPress**:

 * [https://trello.com/c/gA79CUOg/249-a-short-history-of-wordpress](https://trello.com/c/gA79CUOg/249-a-short-history-of-wordpress)
 * [@jenblogs4u](https://profiles.wordpress.org/jenblogs4u/) has added a draft doc
   to that card so anyone can comment/edit.
 * [@maedahbatool](https://profiles.wordpress.org/maedahbatool/) is going to look
   over the draft in the coming week, and provide editorial support.
 * [https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/C0GKJ7TFA/p1548260832608500](https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/C0GKJ7TFA/p1548260832608500)

## **Showcase Updates**

 * [@joostdevalk](https://profiles.wordpress.org/joostdevalk/) is going to share
   a blog post about some changes we see needed for the Showcase ([https://wordpress.org/showcase/](https://wordpress.org/showcase/))
   to make it a bit more modern, and allow our case studies to be a part of that.
   [@harryjackson1221](https://profiles.wordpress.org/harryjackson1221/) is super
   interested in contributing to this effort, and anyone else that wants to be in
   those discussions can do so in the SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group
   Chat Platform [https://slack.com/](https://slack.com/). The WordPress community
   has its own Slack Channel at [https://make.wordpress.org/chat/](https://make.wordpress.org/chat/)
   Marketing channel, as well as in the comments here.
 * [@joostdevalk](https://profiles.wordpress.org/joostdevalk/) is planning on attending
   the [#design](https://make.wordpress.org/marketing/tag/design/) meeting later
   today and asking for help, and we want to get this project moving fast. The target
   date for this update is the end of February.
 * We also talked about creating a TrelloTrello Project management system using
   the concepts of boards and cards to organize tasks in a sane way. This is what
   the make.wordpress.com/marketing team uses for example: [https://trello.com/b/8UGHVBu8/wp-marketing.](https://trello.com/b/8UGHVBu8/wp-marketing)
   card for this, but it was decided that a small working group with resources and
   a project manager will be capable of getting the job done in a better fashion.
   So far, [@harryjackson1221](https://profiles.wordpress.org/harryjackson1221/),
   [@michelleames](https://profiles.wordpress.org/michelleames/), [@meher](https://profiles.wordpress.org/meher/),
   [@abhanonstopnewsuk](https://profiles.wordpress.org/abhanonstopnewsuk/) have
   all showed interest in contributing to this project.

## **New Business Thread**

One of the first changes @joostdevtalk has started implementing is removing the
mentions of us being an all volunteer team. Yoast has decided to donate 50% of [@siobhanseija](https://profiles.wordpress.org/siobhanseija/)’
s working hours to coordinate the work being done on this team. While that does
not mean that involvement as a volunteer is any less appreciated, but it is simply
no longer true of this particular team and we feel it is best to not misrepresent
moving forward.

## **WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. 󠀁[Learn more](https://central.wordcamp.org/about/)󠁿. Zaragoda Contributor DayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. They are events where people get together to work on various areas of 󠀁[https://make.wordpress.org/](https://make.wordpress.org/)󠁿 There are many teams that people can participate in, each with a different focus. 󠀁[https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/getting-started/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day/](https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/getting-started/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day/)󠁿**

We will be supporting the marketing efforts at WordCamp Zaragoda Contributor Day
this weekend. [@abha](https://profiles.wordpress.org/abha/) will post a link in
Slack by Friday if anyone is around to welcome and support the group. We may need
to support some access to Trello and other tools during the onboarding process.
Thanks to [@Priscilla](https://profiles.wordpress.org/priscilla/) Bocage who will
be marketing on site.

 3. Question: What needs to be done to add social media sharing buttons to the team’s
     make blog posts a standard? Especially /updates/ /design/ and /marketing/ (Sic!!)
 4. I get notifications about new posts, and mostly read them on my phone. Then I
     would want to share this with my network on Twitter, and a twitter sharing button
     would get me this done, however many make blogs do not use the sharing buttons.
     The only way to share things would be via copy/paste the title, copy/pages the
     link and add a comment + hashtag.
 5. There is no way I’ll do that all via my mobile phone unless there are sharing
     buttons who do the heavy lifting.
 6. I need to wait until I am back on an adult size keyboard and most of the time
     the impulse is gone. I already read the post, and moved on to other things. It’s
     even worse with Facebook sharing or LinkedIn sharing…
 7. The easy win would be to add sharing buttons to the post so call for testers,
     call for contributors, call for reviewers, call for organizers etc. can be shared
     broad and wide.
 8. It also help reaching out to new people, not yet involved, as well as make it
     easy for the overall WordPress community to stay updated on WordPress happenings.

      * 🙌 Hey, Birgit!
         Thanks for highlighting one of the major points which remains
        missing on the WordPress Make blogs.
      * And yes, I totally agree with you. I have come across similar situations where
        I have to copy paste the entire URLURL A specific web address of a website
        or web page on the Internet, such as a website’s URL www.wordpress.org before
        I share it across my social media platforms.
      * In short, I also feel that the social sharing buttons should have been there.
      * I’ll raise this query in today’s Marketing meeting and let’s see how we can
        voice this suggestion to the concerned people.
      * Peace! ✌️
