Marketing Team Vision
Our vision for the Marketing Team is to be the go-to resource on strategy and content for other WordPress teams. We reiterate our mission each week so that everyone who is new to the team understands what our goals are. This helps with onboarding.
We’d love you to join the Marketing Team. If you have any questions or feel lost (all of us do at some point), please feel free to ping The act of sending a very small amount of data to an end point. Ping is used in computer science to illicit a response from a target server to test it’s connection. Ping is also a term used by Slack users to @ someone or send them a direct message (DM). - How can a new member help? @cjross mentioned that getting help with WordPress is a vast topic. If anything which can be added and it simplifies the process, then it may be continued to expand further.

Gutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. - What is going well? @bridgetwillard stated that at Raleigh she had suggested that if the audio is bad, can we redeem it? @jenblogs4u suggested a transcription. She’s like; we could do a blog post with a video that is good, and take excerpts from other people in text form. This could especially work with repetitive questions. So, that’s what @miker @cjross Jen and Bridget talked about during our in-person meeting. @cjross updated that it’s going well. New volunteers to provide content are on board, likely to have additional footage by next week. Also, he can still add excerpts from others via text to add content; he has some additional content coming in the next week that he’s excited to add.
- What is at risk? Still hoping to have the original Gutenberg testimonials re-uploaded to the drive for use, waiting on word back on that.
- What can a new user help with? If you are in the industry, consider reaching out to your public facing marketing or products personnel and asking if they would like to contribute a short testimonial. I can provide additional details if needed.

- What is going well? No updates, particularly since no significant progress, has been made.
- What is at risk? @bridgetwillard thinks that the issue is the lack of front-facing publishing. She was pretty surprised at her Developer Meetup All local/regional gatherings that are officially a part of the WordPress world but are not WordCamps are organized through https://www.meetup.com/. A meetup is typically a chance for local WordPress users to get together and share new ideas and seek help from one another. Searching for ‘WordPress’ on meetup.com will help you find options in your area. on Monday how few people read Make WordPress or even know what a Contributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. - What is going well? We are moving very close to having a few more docs that can be published, and I have been concentrating on getting those done, but now I am moving to working on one at a time for efficiency.
- What is at risk? Since this is an ongoing task, nothing is at risk, but I would like to help set up a sprint so we can tackle these as a group if anyone is willing to meet up via Slack / Hangouts outside of the weekly meeting.
- What can someone new in Marketing help with? There is tons of work needed here; we are taking the copy submitted by agencies, and rewriting it to be published on our blog. This is a great chance to get involved, and these Case Studies have had tons of visibility throughout the WP Community. Feel free to reach out to me, or any of the other tasks lead to the cards to see what you can do to help out.

- Harry: I have performed a deep dive on this doc this AM, and made a ton of suggestions; I could definitely use another set or three of eyes, and this could be much, much closer to complete. This should be ready by next week at the latest, and I am concentrating my efforts on just this one until it is. There are tons of suggestions to review for @machielle or anyone else who wishes to take a look.

- What is going well? @chanthaboune tried to tidy up some of those Create a * cards yesterday. @miker did not have much of an update. He did meet with Todd earlier this week, but this part got pre-empted. However, it is in progress, and stuff is happening, but unfortunately can’t be more detailed. Last it was in the hands of Christopher P. He did two sections last week, and is working on the third one today. The next step once the content is complete and approved will the publishing process. Which will be more complicated in this case, and will probably require more direction. However, there should be a substantial deliverable remaining from this group. Once these are “done,” and the format and template are finalized, there should be more requests coming.

Creating a Social Media Plan for WordCamps

- What is going well? The social media card is set to be reviewed and worked on via the CD at WC Belfast next weekend. WCBELFAST contributor day on 25/5 will have a marketing segment devoted to this paper and answering remaining points. The number of points is being sent to community and organizers slack channels to gain answers from Central. Also, a new checklist has been launched on WordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. WordPress.TV Potential Marketing Videos
