WCUS GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc. https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/ User Testing Testimonial Videos on WP Marketing

Notes:
@siobhanseija
I’m working on the Moove Agency case. Would say my first draft is about 75% done

@harryjackson1221
I say we move the date out on this one, I also reached out to some agencies I know to have them submit some more as well

We are putting them in the Showcase for the screenshot portion, so the blog can link to it.

I will move it to its own card later today, and put in In Progress.

End-User Persona Doc on WP Marketing

https://trello.com/c/xOu9de8h/75-end-user-persona-doc

Task Lead: @RachelPage
Notes:
@RachelPage
We just want to make sure the information and insights we have gained so far are correct. So we will be interviewing 15 more candidates and conducting a remote field study where we actually monitor the tasks users complete when creating their site for their different personas.

We are still lacking in the Web Agency area. We have determined there are several personas within the “Web Agency” user. So if anyone knows of any Agencies with several people involved in using WP and responsible for the hosting for their site it would be extremely helpful.

Why WordPress (for Developers) on WP Marketing

Task Lead: @maedahbatool (Absent), @bridgetwillard
Notes:
@bridgetwillard
This is for our blog.

@maedahbatool needs to go through the suggested edits and then pingPing The act of sending a very small amount of data to an end point. Ping is used in computer science to illicit a response from a target server to test it’s connection. Ping is also a term used by Slack users to @ someone or send them a direct message (DM). Users might say something along the lines of “Ping me when the meeting starts.” me for final review.

Task Lead: @abhanonstopnews
Notes:
@mcdwayne
Needs a target date.

We need to list out how people can directly help.

@harryjackson1221
And a checklist.

@mcdwayne
This is one where more hands are needed to populate the sheet. If you are new and looking for a good card, this might be a great one for you.

Contributor testimonials on WP Marketing

https://trello.com/c/H5ia7VN8/148-contributor-testimonials

Task Lead: @dushanthi
Notes:
@mcdwayne
Needs objective for TrelloTrello Project management system using the concepts of boards and cards to organize tasks in a sane way. This is what the make.wordpress.com/marketing team uses for example: https://trello.com/b/8UGHVBu8/wp-marketing. card

@dushanthi
I’ll add the objective in the document.

I’ve been leading the marketing table at WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. Rotterdam, together with @siobhanseija. Most people found it hard to do the copywriting tasks, so I created this to give them an easy way to contribute. It might be nice to edit and publish this kind of videos somewhere, to tell people what contributor days are and inspire them to join

@bridgetwillard
We do have a current campaign on this, too.
It was before cards.

Marketing Team Handbook Master Tasks on WP Marketing

https://trello.com/c/hF6DPjos/94-marketing-team-handbook-master-tasks

@mcdwayne
We are going to need to have another sprint day on this.

@harryjackson1221
I wanted to bring up the getting started page on the handbook

Ways to Get Involved

Ways to Get Involved

I think we should write that post as copy for the handbook, lessen the clicks

@mcdwayne
Can we organize a sprint session to grind through these and get them posted? Or can we firm up dates and prioritize this, I think the lingering Handbook stuff adds a complexity to the board that makes it less approachable and just want to see V1/2 completely done and off here.

@bridgetwillard
I wrote that blog post and I can copy/paste from blog to handbook

WordCamp Atlanta

@mcdwayne
Is anyone here going to be at WordCamp Atlanta?
They are having a contrib day and are looking for people from Marketing to attend.

@harryjackson1221
@miker and I talked about being present for their contributor dayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. They are events where people get together to work on various areas of https://make.wordpress.org/ There are many teams that people can participate in, each with a different focus. https://2017.us.wordcamp.org/contributor-day/ https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/getting-started/getting-started-at-a-contributor-day/. virtually.

Gutenberg Testing Outreach on WP Marketing

https://trello.com/c/uR6H362G/152-gutenberg-testing-outreach

Task Lead: @miker
Notes:
@miker
I am going to attend the hosting meeting later today.
For the outreach itself, I would definitely appreciate some pointers.

@harryjackson1221
Do we have any specifics about what type of testing? Or just does it work with x pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party or theme?

@miker
Lots of specifics on the testing, but I just got it, and haven’t digested it yet.

WordPress 15th anniversary

@dushanthi
Any specific marketing activities for the WordPress 15th anniversary?

@bridgetwillard
Community Team has a thing to the MeetupMeetup All local/regional gatherings that are officially a part of the WordPress world but are not WordCamps are organized through https://www.meetup.com/. A meetup is typically a chance for local WordPress users to get together and share new ideas and seek help from one another. Searching for ‘WordPress’ on meetup.com will help you find options in your area. Organizers.

Community Involvement

@siobhanseija
We’d like to think of some more hands-on tasks that people can take on at their first CD. To get them started quickly without needing a lot of onboarding/reading/etc. and to give them a feeling of success.

It took us the better part of 2 hours to get them all set up in SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/., Trello, etc.

@jadonn
Has there been any talk about scripting the account setup? Like have a single form people can put their info into and then all the accounts get setup in one go using the various services’ APIS when available.

@mcdwayne
I have a concern about getting people going without properly setting them up. If they are enthusiastic enough to do something but there is no structure to how they report on what they are doing and they don’t exist in the system officially, how do we track the work and give them credit. The first day at any new thing is orientation and paperwork. While I want to keep encouraging them, if they don’t want to write copy on a team that writes copy and makes marketing strategy I am not sure how much we adapt the mission to meet them

@jadonn I love this. Can you architect and implement this?

@jadonn
I’m happy to take a look to see what can be shaken out. I did a bunch of work with Slack’s APIAPI An API or Application Programming Interface is a software intermediary that allows programs to interact with each other and share data in limited, clearly defined ways. previously.

Trello has an API, too, but I’m not familiar with what it can do.
