The Marketing team promotes WordPress to current and future users and contributors. We create and amplify campaigns to support the growth of the WordPress project.
Marketing Team Vision
Our vision for the Marketing Team is to be the go-to resource on strategy and content for other WordPress teams.
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join in, comment on posts, and participate in meetings and on projects. And, yes, you can add yourself to any Trello Card you’d like to work on.
Navigating TracTrac Trac is the place where contributors create issues for bugs or feature requests much like GitHub.https://core.trac.wordpress.org/. for New People
@mcdwayne: We are awaiting Design to come back with graphics than I can make.
Dot Org MetaMeta Meta is a term that refers to the inside workings of a group. For us, this is the team that works on internal WordPress sites like WordCamp Central and Make WordPress. Descriptions Part 2
Manifesto Case Study
@harryjackson122: I made one or two suggestions on this a little while ago, just minor stuff – great work. After that, we are supposed to get them to @skarjune for publishing once done, but there was discussion to be had on where they live.
GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc. https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/ User Videos
@jenblogs4u: I reviewed the videos and have suggested segments outlined to see if WPTV can do the edits as originally discussed. If they can splice it together and reduce the background noise, I think a few text and name overlays will make it usable. I’ll send it over to @tashan today and get his feedback.
Showcase Page Recommended Copy
@miker: I am on that card for determining if sites currently are using WP from the last meeting. However, after that meeting, in the discussions, it seems like this part is no longer needed, as the system can check and record that info. So with this being the case, I’ll drop off that card, and let the people working on the copy and content handle that.
@bridgetwillard We still need 300 word intro copy because: SEO.
Create a Website – Copy
@miker: Card updated, but will have an update and draft to show next week. @joe9663 and @Joe Bergess are assisting with this one. started on a working doc, looking at how other similar landing pages have handled that.
Create a Blog – Copy
@miker: If anybody would like to jump in and start working on this, feel free! Otherwise, the plan is to do the Create a Website (CAW), then iron out what it should be, and then move on to the others like Create a Blog (CAB) or Create a Store (CAS).
Why WordPress for Developers
@bridgetwillard: I’m doing the final proofreading. Then we publish on marketing blog. That card needs a checklist probably.
Survey Answers – Read and Format
@harryjackson1221: For this, we have the two awaiting Needs Approval, and I see you have taken the time to do some proofreading. There are some lesser submissions, that may have a better place in the Showcase since they lack copy needed to do a full case study.
End User Persona Doc
@RachelPage: We have completed Personas from the interviews we have done with both the Freelancers and Small Business Owners. The last two interviews we did with Corporate Webmasters turned out to really identify with Freelancers so we are conducting 2 more this week. Once those are complete we will begin building a Persona based on those interviews. While all initial deliverables will be done by 03/21 validation of these will not be complete until late April early May. I also have some one offs where the user did not identify as they classified or with either of the 4 top users and may be able to determine another Persona based on those.
Creating a Social Media Plan for WordCamps
@mcdwayne: Target dates move, so let’s move it out a few weeks.
Handbook: MT Vision
@mcdwayne: Who is up for an online contrib sprint on Sunday to knock out the content for the Handbook so we can got this thing going! 9:am Pacific time is like 4 PM UK time.
Handbook: Tools & Resources
@cjross: I’m excited to get your feedback on this. The model below can be used in conjunction with TrelloTrello Project management system using the concepts of boards and cards to organize tasks in a sane way. This is what the make.wordpress.com/marketing team uses for example: https://trello.com/b/8UGHVBu8/wp-marketing. to provide a more detailed status and task delegation overview.
