Marketing Team Vision

Our vision for the Marketing Team is to be the go-to resource on strategy and content for other WordPress teams.

Getting Involved

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join in, comment on posts, and participate in meetings and on projects. And, yes, you can add yourself to any Trello Card you’d like to work on.

Today’s Meeting

Task-lead: @harryjackson1221

@harryjackson gave an update, and advised the group we have added some additional responses for others to work on, and

@siobhan and @cjross are both working on reviewing and making changes to these docs as well.

We discussed the due date, and as a group decided to break these docs into separate cards as they are ready for the “Needs approval” list.

@harryjackson finished the Odd Alice case study, so we moved it as its own card to needs approval, so it can get an editorial pass over by the group.

bridgetwillard mentioned that we want to make sure we include standards like always having a featured imageFeatured image A featured image is the main image used on your blog archive page and is pulled when the post or page is shared on social media. The image can be used to display in widget areas on your site or in a summary list of posts., SEO MetaMeta Meta is a term that refers to the inside workings of a group. For us, this is the team that works on internal WordPress sites like WordCamp Central and Make WordPress. Description, with the appropriate length, voice, and tonality.

She also added a checklist for progression on this card, and the doc seems to be progressing.

After going through the In Progress cards, we moved the discussion to the “Awaiting Approval” list.

Marketing Team Handbook: A Work in Progress

After reviewing those cards in Needs Approval, we returned to the final card which is a ton of work::
https://trello.com/c/hF6DPjos/94-create-a-marketing-team-handbook

@mcdwayne opened the floor on this by advising the group of the low risk tasks and high need of getting content for these cards to get our handbook together.

Both @harryjackson1221 and @mcdwayne are going to take some time to review these cards in the following week, and get started, along with @siobhan and @yvettesonneveld.

@cjross also shared info about the tools and resources section, and is building a sheet for tracking the process of tasks such as this to allow for better organization within the group.

We then moved on to the New Initiative being requested from make(dot) from the Growth Council and we decided that we are going to make a card, and reach out to design for wireframes, and handle the copy within the Marketing group.
