Marketing Team Notes – February 7, 2018

Marketing Team Vision

Our vision for the Marketing Team is to be the go-to resource on strategy and content for other WordPress teams.

Getting Involved

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join in, comment on posts, and participate in meetings and on projects. And, yes, you can add yourself to any Trello Card you’d like to work on.

Today’s Meeting

Slack Timestamp

@mcdwayne began the meeting by announcing that anyone who is joining for the first time (whether active or observing), this is a meeting for the Marketing community to discuss issues that have come up, and keep track of the TrelloTrello Project management system using the concepts of boards and cards to organize tasks in a sane way. This is what the make.wordpress.com/marketing team uses for example: https://trello.com/b/8UGHVBu8/wp-marketing. board.

He also reminded us that everyone that contributes on this team are volunteers. Feel free to ask questions as you have them, we are family-friendly here.

We focused on updates to the In Progress Cards. Here is a quick recap:

WCUS GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc. https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/ User Testing Testimonial Videos

Task-lead: @jenblogs4u

@jenblogs4u mentioned she has not had the time to review all of the videos yet, and asked for assistance with that task from the group.

@miker asked for more info about the card, and @mcdwayne urged anyone interested to add themselves to the Trello card and start a thread to continue the discussion.

@jenblogs4u explained that we need to review the videos to make sure they have messaging we should be sending out as a marketing dept as well as suggesting edits as to the most pertinent footage. Three questions were asked of each person, but not all answers will be featured. The goal of this task is to produce a series of shareable videos to increase awareness.

@bridgetwillard added sub tasks to the card as well to help outline the work still needed and @jenblogs4u added the drive link for access to the videos.

@miker and @ChristopherRoss were added to the card to assist with reviewing the videos.
