 * 2,827 test results were shared by web hosts 
 * There were 25 hosts actively reporting test results
 * There are 75 hosts registered for testing total
 * As of the today (2025-09-03), hosts have shared 132,715 test results since HostingHosting

[WordCamp US 2025 Contributor Day](https://make.wordpress.org/hosting/2025/08/20/wordcamp-us-2025-contributor-day/)
took place on **26th August 2025** at the [Oregon Convention Center](https://us.wordcamp.org/2025/about/location/)**
in Portland, Oregon, USA**. Contributors joined both in person and remotely, and
we made solid progress across our handbooks, testing tools, and various tickets 
and pull requests.

At the HostingHosting A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service
that allows individuals and organizations to make their website accessible via the
World Wide Web. Table, [@zunaid321](https://profiles.wordpress.org/zunaid321/) and
[@jessibelle](https://profiles.wordpress.org/jessibelle/) led the in-person discussions
and hands-on work, with [@amykamala](https://profiles.wordpress.org/amykamala/) 
contributing remotely. We were especially excited to welcome **10 new contributors**
who joined the Hosting Team for the first time! 🚀

The Team focused on three main areas on the Contributor DayContributor Day Contributor

also happen at any time. They are events where people get together to work on various

### 1. WordPress Distributed Hosting Test Software

The team worked on improving the PHPUnit Test Runner and Reporter. Contributors 
created new issues, explored technical challenges, and submitted or reviewed pull
requests. These updates help hosts test unreleased WordPress versions and report
any conflicts or errors.

### 2. Hosting Handbook Updates

Tickets were reviewed, PRs submitted, and several issues were closed. Notable progress
included updates on [hosting-handbook#328](https://github.com/WordPress/hosting-handbook/issues/328)
and suggested additions from contributors during the day.

### 3. Advanced Administration Handbook Updates

Contributors submitted PRs and reviewed issues, bringing multiple articles closer
to completion. Updates included [advanced-administration-handbook#149](https://github.com/WordPress/Advanced-administration-handbook/issues/149)
and other tickets that need a second review.

No matter if you were coding, reviewing, or researching, every contribution helped
move the team forward.

### WordPress Distributed Hosting Test Software Improvements

The Hosting Team maintains a PHPunit [Test Runner](https://github.com/WordPress/phpunit-test-runner/)
and [Reporter](https://github.com/WordPress/phpunit-test-reporter/) software that
enables Web Hosts to test unreleased WordPress software updates on hosting platforms
and report any conflicts, errors or issues that may need to be addressed. Many Hosts
participate (thank you!) and [Host Test Results are shared here](https://make.wordpress.org/hosting/test-results/).

The goal for this on Contributor Day is to make progress on testing software development;
snag tickets, dig in on tooling improvements, and push, open, review, test and merge
pull requests. The tickets available to work on can be found here:

### Workflow Protocols

**To work on open tickets**

1) [Fork the repositories](https://docs.github.com/en/pull-requests/collaborating-with-pull-requests/working-with-forks/fork-a-repo)
you wish to work on

2) Assign the issue to yourself in GitHub, and

3) Name your branch with the issue number, your name, and a ‘WCUS25’ prefix.

For example, if I want to work on [Hosting Handbook issue #293](https://github.com/WordPress/hosting-handbook/issues/293),
I’ll first hit the ‘assign yourself’ button on the upper right of the issue, make
a new fork of the repo or [sync my existing fork](https://docs.github.com/en/pull-requests/collaborating-with-pull-requests/working-with-forks/syncing-a-fork),
git clone onto my local dev environment or git pull into main if there was anything
to sync, and checkout a new branch from main with the name ‘WCUS25-293-amykamala’.

and some basic [Git commands](https://git-scm.com/docs) to get started!

**Reviews**

Once you’ve pushed your changes and opened a new pull request, tag some reviewers
on the upper right of the PR. If you don’t know who to tag, feel free to tag [@zunaid](https://github.com/zunaid321),
[@Jessfrick](https://github.com/jessfrick), [@kittenkamala](https://github.com/kittenkamala),
[@crixu](https://github.com/Crixu), or [@Chaion07](https://github.com/chaion07).

If you’re reviewing work yourself, make sure you’re added as a reviewer on the upper
right of the ticket, and comment on the PR with any feedback and a mention of WCUS
CD 2025.

**Testing and Merges**

All PRs must have 2 approvals and be fully up to date with the base branch in order
to be merged. Pay attention to the comments on your PRs in case follow up is needed!

Changes to the testing software must be tested on a hosting platform prior to being
merged. If you’re doing testing make sure to comment on the PR with your findings,
the hosting platform/specs, and don’t forget to mention in the comment that you 
tested during WCUS CD 2025.

 * There were 24 hosts actively reporting test results
