Announcements: WordPress 5.3 ReleaseRelease A release is the distribution of the final version of an application. A software release may be either public or private and generally constitutes the initial or new generation of a new or upgraded application. A release is preceded by the distribution of alpha and then beta versions of the software.!

WordPress 5.3 was released on schedule on November 12, 2019! This new release includes:

  • 658 bug fixes and enhancements
  • A new default theme; TwentyTwenty
  • 654 contributors, 9 focus leads and 12 weeks of development
  • Updates to all components
  • Gutenberg 6.9 with more releases coming soon!
  • WP-CLI v2.4.0

Community feedback by @mpcube regarding the Admin email verification page resulted in 2 tracTrac Trac is the place where contributors create issues for bugs or feature requests much like GitHub. tickets; #48745 and #48746

Annual Survey

Post Release Testing

Folks are also invited to participate in post release testing for WordPress 5.3. Testing helps provide valuable data for fixes and enhancements. Those who are interested in helping with testing can find more info in the Handbook. Thank you to everyone who has helped out with testing and who continues to do so!

Meeting Times and Days

The hosting team is interested in hearing feedback on the bi-weekly, alternating meeting schedule. What is and is not working? Would it be easier to communicate if there were a meeting for each time zone each week, instead of one every other week? Would a different time for the Monday meeting that better accommodates the APAC time zone be more inclusive? Thanks for sharing your thoughts in the comments below!
