5.0 Followup
Following @clorith‘s request last week, feedback was requested about how hosts that had delayed updates until the new year have been finding the 5.0 upgrades in the new year.
One unmanaged host mentioned that users have been reporting a significant amount of breaking sites, so they’ve been recommending upgrades, but with the Classic Editor plugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party. installed until everything has been updated for 5.0 compatibility on a site. They mentioned they were willing to watch out for trends on plugins and themes that cause breakages, and that it seems to usually be ones not found in the repo.

We briefly discussed @francina‘s post with proposals on team communication and decision-making.
@brettface offered to facilitate giving video chats a try, pending technical assistance by someone who has access to whatever platform the team will be using. @mikeschroder offered to assist there as needed, and mentioned that @aaroncampbell also offered to do so in a past meeting. @francina is checking to see if there’s a Community team Zoom account that’d be appropriate for the hosting A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their website accessible via the World Wide Web. team to use as well.
@brettface will be drafting up a post for this blog with next steps.
