The Core Development Team builds WordPress.<\/span><\/span><\/span>, themes, and support contributors. As part of an <a href=\"https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/docs\/2026\/02\/02\/how-to-help-with-the-overhaul-of-documentation-issue-tracker-in-github\/\">overhaul<\/a>, the Documentation Team has triaged and labeled nearly 800 issues in the <span tabindex='0' class='glossary-item-container'>GitHub<span class='glossary-item-hidden-content'><span class='glossary-item-header'>GitHub<\/span> <span class='glossary-item-description'>GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the \u2018pull request\u2019 where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged by the repository owner. <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/\">https:\/\/github.com\/<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span> documentation issue tracker, closing 200 so far. Many of the open issues belong to your teams. Find your area below, then:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Close stale issues<\/strong> that are no longer relevant, or comment \u201cClose this\u201d if you don\u2019t have access<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Comment with corrections<\/strong>\u00a0or updated information when you spot something wrong<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>If possible, draft doc changes<\/strong> and comment with markdown or a link to your draft<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have permissions to close issues or update docs directly, even better. Ping is used in computer science to illicit a response from a target server to test it\u2019s connection. Ping is also a term used by Slack users to @ someone or send them a direct message (DM).
