Weekly Chat Time Change

I brought up the idea in this week’s chat to change the weekly Docs team chat to an earlier time on Thursday that should allow more team members to attend the meeting.

The Support team chat is 16:00 UTC on Thursday in #wordpress-sfd, so we should choose a time that doesn’t overlap with their meeting.

I came up with the following possibilities for the new chat time (with timezone conversions for each):

UTC
PDT
MDT
CDT
EDT
BST
ICT
15:00 8am 9am 10am 11am 4pm 10pm
17:00 10am 11am 12pm 1pm 6pm 12am
18:00 11am 12pm 1pm 2pm 7pm 1am
19:00 12pm 1pm 2pm 3pm 8pm 2am
20:00 1pm 2pm 3pm 4pm 9pm 3am

My schedule is flexible, so any of the above would be good for me.

If you could list your preferences (first and second) in the comments, we can try to come up with a time that works for all of us.

Update: It appears that 17:00 UTC is the most common choice for everyone, so that’s what we’ll go with. New chat time starts tomorrow (Thursday, 5/8).

I’ve already made the change in the sidebarSidebar A sidebar in WordPress is referred to a widget-ready area used by WordPress themes to display information that is not a part of the main content. It is not always a vertical column on the side. It can be a horizontal rectangle below or above the content area, footer, header, or any where in the theme. and in the blue Welcome box at the top. See everyone tomorrow!

Changing the Docs chat time

I’ve floated the idea of changing the time of the docs chat. I’m currently in Thailand, which is why you haven’t seen me at the chats. I’m suggesting this for the docs chat – the support guys don’t need to change.

I propose the following time:

Thursday 4pm PST
Thursday 5pm Mountain
Thursday 6pm Central
Thursday 7pm EST
Friday Midnight UTC
Friday 7am ICT

Agree? Disagree?

If/when the chat changes, I propose using the first one to have a general administrative meeting, to review where we are and discuss where we’re going.

Chat 28th March

Thanks to everyone who came to the chat last night. We discussed the following things:

  • CCH – I’ve asked Kim Parsell to take responsibility for getting this done. She’s been doing a great job with the content she’s writing and I think she’ll be great for it.
  • Codex Sprint – Drew is getting together the material for the Codex sprint once 3.6 appears. We’re looking at the end of April.
  • we discussed the necessity for having centralised content stores.

@rmccue or @djpaul – can either of you give us an update on the parser for the code reference?

I’m meeting with Jen next week to look at the overall documentation architecture.

Next week – chat will be on April 4th 21:00 BST. I’m going to be travelling but I should be able to make the chat.
