Project Updates

@milana_cap  added patches on this metaMeta Meta is a term that refers to the inside workings of a group. For us, this is the team that works on internal WordPress sites like WordCamp Central and Make WordPress. ticket https://meta.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4915. She also started working on videos on how to set up a local HelpbHub instance.

@bph mentioned that we now have 32 pages to 5.5 status. She also updated the channel with the following information: 

  • New pages needed – 11
  • WordPress 5.5 – 31 
  • WordPress 5.4 – 15
  • WordPress 5.3 – 2
  • WordPress 5.0 – 18 
  • Pre WordPress 5.0 – 2
  • Total 79 pages

@atachibana mentioned that he and @stevenlinxf  migrating and re-routing of codex to code reference for

  • Classes: 21 of 43 (48.8% < – 30.2%)
  • HooksHooks In WordPress theme and development, hooks are functions that can be applied to an action or a Filter in WordPress. Actions are functions performed when a certain event occurs in WordPress. Filters allow you to modify certain functions. Arguments used to hook both filters and actions look the same.: 26 of 355 (7.3% < – 5.6%)

  • GSoD Style Guide project is going to be worked on at GitHubGitHub GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged be the repository owner. https://github.com/. The link will be shared as soon as the repository is created.

@mkaz will be doing a Hallway Hangout on September 1, here’s the announcement. 

New Member Mentor Training

@prubhtej provided new members update: 5 people have joined #docs in the last week. A total of 33 people have joined #docs in the month of August.

Monthly Coffee Break

We had Monthly Coffee Break for August on the 27th, 10 people attended.

@sukafia is going to set up another Doodle as usual and we will probably have a different Time Zone preference for the Monthly Coffee Break for September.

Google Season of Docs 2020

@dmivelli mentioned that she has created a master document for the GSOD Improve Article Discovery project. There she and @timohaver will keep details, decisions, and progress.
