Development Updates

We’re still missing the side bar and it’s related work to be done to finish up Phase 1. While the majority of Phase 1 is complete, without those items in, discovery of content would be next to impossible.

We’re definitely looking to finish those items before launch. It turns out as well that the MetaMeta Meta is a term that refers to the inside workings of a group. For us, this is the team that works on internal WordPress sites like WordCamp Central and Make WordPress. team is busy with GDPR and launch would likely get delayed anyway!

@felipeelia volunteered to work on the side bar

@clorith will have a chat with @netweb about the likely merge of all code into Meta first week of June

@kenshino would really like to be able to announce HelpHub’s launch during WCEU

We have also decided to punt primary categories and keep articles without a categoryCategory The 'category' taxonomy lets you group posts / content together that share a common bond. Categories are pre-defined and broad ranging. base for permalinks for Phase 1. A deeper look into how articles are discovered is necessary before we decide on the role of permalinks in such.

Bug Scrub

  • https://github.com/Kenshino/HelpHub/issues/201 – We’re hoping @atachibana can pick this up as he wrote the original code
  • https://github.com/Kenshino/HelpHub/issues/152 – This is an improvement to the local development tool, it’s not urgent and we’re hoping for @tomjn to put up a PR once he’s less busy with VVV 🙂
  • https://github.com/Kenshino/HelpHub/issues/50 – this might be useful if we have a lot of code snippets. But not important for Phase 1 so punted.
  • https://github.com/Kenshino/HelpHub/issues/9 – While it is likely the Support Forums will boot up an Elasticsearch instance to handle search. Getting the instance up is only a tiny part of the entire effort to make search an intuitive and useful experience. Getting the content indexed is easy but we’ll have to work on the UX and teach it to understand the content we’re building. This is likely a Phase 2 or a Phase 3 effort.
