# REST API Documentation Meeting Dec 14

The REST APIREST API The REST API is an acronym for the RESTful Application Program
Interface (API) that uses HTTP requests to GET, PUT, POST and DELETE data. It is
how the front end of an application (think “phone app” or “website”) can communicate

team will be meeting in [#docs](https://wordpress.slack.com/messages/docs/) at **
[Wednesday, December 16, 2016, 23:00 UTC](https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20161221T2300)**,
to determine the process for maintaining and expanding the [REST API documentation](https://developer.wordpress.org/rest-api).

Now that a majority of the existing REST API documentation has been migrated to 
developer.wordpress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is 
created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code 
for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community
conversations and organization. [https://wordpress.org/](https://wordpress.org/)(
thank you @chopinbach and @coffee2code for driving that effort!), the REST API team
needs to establish ownership & working processes for maintaining & expanding this
documentation going forward.

Agenda

 * Discuss working process for tracking APIAPI An API or Application Programming
   Interface is a software intermediary that allows programs to interact with each
   other and share data in limited, clearly defined ways. documentation issues &
   enhancements
 * Discuss future purpose of existing wp-api.org docs site
 * List & prioritize FAQ that have come in during the first week of 4.7
 * Delegate ownership of priority documentation issues that should be handled before
   the end of the year

We would also like to solicit input on process & workflow from existing documentation
contributors: what has worked for your teams?
