Summary of Helphub meeting 5 July

Attendance

@greensteph @carlalberto @justingreerbbi @normalize @sergeybiryukov @anevins @bethannon1 @Kenshino attended

MigrationMigration Moving the code, database and media files for a website site from one server to another. Most typically done when changing hosting companies. Updates

@normalize will have something to share soon. @Kenshino encouraged everyone to send him articles for help / discussions.

We also welcomed @anevins and @bethannon1 from the Support Team to help with migration. Their help comes in a much needed hour.

@bethannon1 has identified a few missing articles on our Google Sheet and has added them in. She will also be working on a new article “When and when not to use multisiteMultisite Multisite is a WordPress feature which allows users to create a network of sites on a single WordPress installation. Available since WordPress version 3.0, Multisite is a continuation of WPMU or WordPress Multiuser project. WordPress MultiUser project was discontinued and its features were included into WordPress core.https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network.” based on an earlier blog post that @ipstenu wrote.

Design Updates

@greensteph will work on the singular view of the WordPress Versions custom post typeCustom Post Type WordPress can hold and display many different types of content. A single item of such a content is generally called a post, although post is also a specific post type. Custom Post Types gives your site the ability to have templated posts, to simplify the concept. (the archive view was well received by #core team)

Development Updates

Nothing new on the development front but we did welcome @sergeybiryukov from the coreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. team to assist on this.

@Kenshino will create the WordPress Version articles’ custom post type.

Translations or at least Codex’s Multilingual system

@Kenshino encouraged everyone to think how we can create a more inclusive Helphub while a W.org wide system for translation is being conceived (may take some time). It would be great if Helphub can still somehow link back to the various locale codex-es.

Join the Docs Meeting

@Kenshino sent out a PSA that anyone who is interested in helping at @drew restart the Doc Team meeting should join in on Thursdays, 17:00 UTC

Read the meeting transcript in the Slack archives. (A Slack account is required)
