Design Share #68 (Nov 4-Nov 15)

This is a bi-weekly update of work the design group contributed to. Work happens in overview issues, and in needs design, or needs design feedback issues.

If you have updates you’d like to include in the next Design Share, drop a note in the #design channel. If you have questions, you can also ask them there, or as a comment on this post.

General Updates

WordPress 6.7

Status: Completed

Now out, 6.7 “Rollins” features a new zoom tool to build with patterns at a high level, and a new default theme, Twenty Twenty-Five, that takes advantage of this by supplying thoughtfully designed patterns that work leverage section styles. Read all about it on the release site.

Menu navigation editing

Status: In progress

Out of a conversation about improving the management of navigation menus, we started exploring enhancements of the menu edition flow in the Editor for both Write and Design modes. The current does not address certain use cases and the page arrangement interaction feels buggy.

Page preview in global styles browsing

Status: In progress

Based on explorations made for browsing global styles in the Admin, we talked about the need of previewing site-wise changes on different pages without breaking the style editing flow. This exploration is very in the clouds and needs more polishing, but the mockups intend to spark discussion about its value proposition.
