# Design Share: Jul 31-Aug 11

Hi, all! Here are a few projects the Design Team has contributed to over the past
couple of weeks.

## Learn / Documentation iteration 2

[[

[Test the clickable prototype](https://www.figma.com/proto/iM8I9yAYbwjbc9q9b2WWui/Documentation%2FHelpHub?page-id=3833%3A2517&type=design&node-id=3833-28422&viewport=596%2C522%2C0.13&t=JPYBzYubut2NfhkW-1&scaling=min-zoom&starting-point-node-id=3833%3A28422&mode=design)

Following up on feedback, here’s a second iteration of the Documentation section
of WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created
and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress
core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations
and organization. [https://wordpress.org/](https://wordpress.org/). The best way
to review and leave feedback is to first [give this prototype a good test](https://www.figma.com/proto/iM8I9yAYbwjbc9q9b2WWui/Documentation%2FHelpHub?page-id=3833%3A2517&type=design&node-id=3833-28422&viewport=596%2C522%2C0.13&t=JPYBzYubut2NfhkW-1&scaling=min-zoom&starting-point-node-id=3833%3A28422&mode=design),
and then consider leaving feedback [directly in the Figma file](https://www.figma.com/file/iM8I9yAYbwjbc9q9b2WWui/Documentation%2FHelpHub?type=design&node-id=3833%3A2517&mode=design&t=XhofboK0DBg2vPYq-1).

## Learn / Developer Resources iteration 2

[[

[Test the clickable prototype](https://www.figma.com/proto/2WxlJFzMJvqPfZL1EkAOVp/Developer-Resources?page-id=2934%3A6071&type=design&node-id=2934-6764&viewport=17%2C315%2C0.13&t=Hbp3lhWhWCQ42Edp-1&scaling=min-zoom&starting-point-node-id=2934%3A6764&mode=design)

Progress with an i2 as well on the Developer Resources section of WordPress.org.
Also here, please [give this prototype a good test](https://www.figma.com/proto/2WxlJFzMJvqPfZL1EkAOVp/Developer-Resources?page-id=2934%3A6071&type=design&node-id=2934-6764&viewport=17%2C315%2C0.13&t=Hbp3lhWhWCQ42Edp-1&scaling=min-zoom&starting-point-node-id=2934%3A6764&mode=design),
and then consider leaving feedback [directly in the Figma file](https://www.figma.com/file/2WxlJFzMJvqPfZL1EkAOVp/Developer-Resources?type=design&node-id=2934%3A6071&mode=design&t=WNXYXr6SwnnEJMIw-1).

## Learn / Forums iteration 2

[[

[Test the clickable prototype](https://www.figma.com/proto/3eK690rwPubLvTEvJIJKRO/Forums?page-id=1%3A2194&type=design&node-id=902-1496&viewport=275%2C511%2C0.5&t=DlZSEXkDbIX0E27P-1&scaling=min-zoom&starting-point-node-id=902%3A1496&mode=design)

Also an i2 in the Learn categoryCategory The 'category' taxonomy lets you group
posts / content together that share a common bond. Categories are pre-defined and
broad ranging. are the Forums. Review first [this prototype a good test](https://www.figma.com/proto/3eK690rwPubLvTEvJIJKRO/Forums?page-id=1%3A2194&type=design&node-id=902-1496&viewport=275%2C511%2C0.5&t=DlZSEXkDbIX0E27P-1&scaling=min-zoom&starting-point-node-id=902%3A1496&mode=design),
and then consider leaving feedback [directly in the Figma file](https://www.figma.com/file/3eK690rwPubLvTEvJIJKRO/Forums?type=design&node-id=1%3A2194&mode=design&t=1l65epLwsNrtF93c-1).

## Learn iteration 2

[[

Finally rounding out the bigger section that had the most feedback is the treasure
trove that is the Learn section. Please [give this prototype a thorough test](https://www.figma.com/proto/ZKaf6u8mIHkAanluWafXAp/Learn?page-id=1705%3A79&type=design&node-id=1709-938&viewport=518%2C448%2C0.06&t=MhG6iyquGnuW6Rqi-1&scaling=min-zoom&starting-point-node-id=1709%3A938&mode=design),
and then consider leaving feedback [directly in the Figma file](https://www.figma.com/file/ZKaf6u8mIHkAanluWafXAp/Learn?type=design&node-id=1705%3A79&mode=design&t=puZVJU4u46R6kXlE-1).

## Showcase prototype

[[

A clickable prototype of the showcase refresh we previously shared on this channel.
[Have a look](https://www.figma.com/proto/nK6LcMOZMtRAQdIky3PNIA/Showcase?page-id=3291%3A68596&type=design&node-id=3529-16204&viewport=-305%2C361%2C0.13&t=7fcF9wJNhycZ8M9s-1&scaling=min-zoom&starting-point-node-id=3529%3A16204&mode=design)!

## WordPress 6.3 Lionel Artwork

[[

6.3 is named after [Lionel Hampton](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lionel_Hampton),
and here’s the shiny record artwork for this release.

## 6.3 Release Video

A video to celebrate both the release of WordPress 6.3 Lionel, but also to celebrate
that the site editor is coming into its own. [Watch it on YouTube as well](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JhJcOLySLY).

## 6.3 Release Demo Site

[[

A microsite to celebrate and coincide with the release. [Have a look](https://wordpress.org/download/releases/6-3/)!

## Photos Directory mini-refresh

[[

Kudos [@coffee2code](https://profiles.wordpress.org/coffee2code/) for giving the
[Photos Directory](https://wordpress.org/photos) a small visual refresh to use the
modern blue.

## Blocks

[[

A new page in the Extend category, “Blocks” aims to outline what you can do with
the blocks in the editor. [Read more here](https://github.com/WordPress/wporg-main-2022/issues/245#issuecomment-1674007526)!

## Style inheritance

[[

Style inheritance is becoming increasingly complex, we’ve been exploring ways to
communicate the source of a given style, when local overrides are present, and offer
shortcuts to make those overrides the default. [Issue](https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/49278).

## Template details + Inspector relationship

[[

The details panel for certain templates was enhanced in 6.3. As we expand this to
all templates moving forwards it’s important to nail down the relationship between
the template details panel in the site editor, and the template inspector in the
full screen editor. [Issue](https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/36951).

## Table view and component theming

Expanding the template management experience in the site editor is something [we hope to get to in 6.4](https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/50430).
A robust [Table component](https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/53233)
should underpin this effort, and will be essential as we explore the [admin design](https://make.wordpress.org/core/2023/07/12/admin-design/)
in more detail too. A consideration there – additional to the features of the table
itself – is the theme-ability of components. Admin themes, contrast preferences,
etc should be factored into the design. We’ve been trying some of the new variable
tools in Figma to explore light and dark modes, with high contrast and spacing preferences.

## Post Formats – blockBlock Block is the abstract term used to describe units of markup that, composed together, form the content or layout of a webpage using the WordPress editor. The idea combines concepts of what in the past may have achieved with shortcodes, custom HTML, and embed discovery into a single consistent API and user experience. style

This initial exploration seeks to offer a quick-publish flow for images, quotes,
videos, and other post formats. Partially synced patterns make it convenient for
the user to update the design for any format in one go. The format itself is applying
intrinsically – if a post consists of only an Image block then it is an `image`
post.
