Design Share: June 6–17

Hi, all! Here are a few projects the Design Team has contributed to over the past couple of weeks.

BlockBlock Block is the abstract term used to describe units of markup that, composed together, form the content or layout of a webpage using the WordPress editor. The idea combines concepts of what in the past may have achieved with shortcodes, custom HTML, and embed discovery into a single consistent API and user experience. Errors / Warnings

@jameskoster is exploring how we might surface block errors and warnings off-canvas in Gutenberg issue #41747.

Padding control

@jameskoster is also ideating on an update to the padding control that supports presets and fluid values.

GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc. https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/ landing page

A new Gutenberg landing page designed by @beafialho launched last week, which allows users to interact with the editor on the front end of the site. ✨

Rethinking the WordPress Admin experience

There’s also a new post on the Make Design blog thinking through some potential updates to the WP Admin experience. Design contributors are encouraged to join the discussion in the comments!
