Housekeeping

  • Meetings – Every week we now have 2 triage meetings. If you’ve wanted an opportunity to learn more about how to get involved in moving tickets forward this is a great chance to help out! If you can make one of them we’d love to have you.

Updates

Showcase: @hedgefield

The designs are progressing nicely. They aren’t quite at a stage of soliciting feedback yet, but Tim is making headway working through the good feedback on the previous iteration that was spearheaded by Rich Copping.

Tim’s main iterations are in styling things according to the existing elements and colors, and the page has been shortened without losing feature. If you’re curious you can take a look at the Figma file.

The team had some discussions on a few points, and we can look forward to a formal state next week for review.

Gutenberg phase two: @mapk

  • Gutenberg 5.5 was just released!
  • The group blockBlock Block is the abstract term used to describe units of markup that, composed together, form the content or layout of a webpage using the WordPress editor. The idea combines concepts of what in the past may have achieved with shortcodes, custom HTML, and embed discovery into a single consistent API and user experience. made it in. There are a lot of enhancements and even a bit of a performance boost. It had 48+ contributors, thanks everyone!
  • @nicolad is working on a Social Media block
  • @kjellr is back on borders again!
  • @getdave is experimenting with grouping multiple blocks into a Group block.
  • @Sarah James posted some early user research, well worth the read.

Discussion

@CK Lee left us a ticket for feedback on a screenshot user interface for the pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party directory. There’s a screencast on the ticket, and some additional context in Slack on the feedback that’s needed.
