An intro video on Slidebean reminds me of the GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc. https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/.

It starts out with a premade template layout the user can select.
Then moves to adding content similar to the Gutenberg.
Then moves to design.

How would I relate the above to WordPress:
A way to save a page/post layout as a template. Somewhere on the new page or post we could choose a pre existing layout and have it load into the screen. I see it as an interesting wiki to browse through. Lots of written material on how sitefinity uses content blocks.

My thoughts:
MailChimp has a very elegant way of creating a layout. Non intrusive but lacks inline editing. Blocks on one side. Layout on other side.
Here it would be better to get it as close to natural content creation as possible with inline editing blocks being a part of the layout.
They use Content – Style – Setting in the top headerHeader The header of your site is typically the first thing people will experience. The masthead or header art located across the top of your page is part of the look and feel of your website. It can influence a visitor’s opinion about your content and you/ your organization’s brand. It may also look different on different screen sizes. part of a content block for further editing. Setting contains selecting columns. It would be better to create a column direct inside the layout. Perhaps somekind of split feature to create columns etc.

Just a few comments regarding the above SquareSpace video.
0.26. It shows creating various types of pages. Cover page, album, blog, etc. How I see this relate to WordPress. One selects to create a new page. Sometime during the content creation of the page one would be able to select it as a front, blog, gallery or other type of page. Instead of having to go to Settings -> reading assigning it as front or blog it could be done directly during the content creation phase. This idea can really be explored.
