Figma Access

There’s a WordPress Component Library in Figma. Duplicate to edit, direct access is reserved for the design team. Figma accounts are free, but edit access is not.

You don’t need edit access to use the Figma libraries, you can copy components from there into your own drafts. If you’re a contributor with the ability to grant edit access, please be mindful, and downgrade to view access once the initial need for edit has waned.

In our IRC discussion today we talked about the responsive admin implementation for this release. We’re going to first focus on large-screen implementation, and then if we have time before freeze, work on small screen/mobile. We need to start comps for the large-screen implementation and post on this thread for discussion. This comping-period needs to happen before WCSF (August 13th) so we will not get behind. You can use pagelayers to make a PSD & move things around. Think: constraining widths, columnizing widgets, etc. Lets post up and discuss!!!

ps. the tracTrac Trac is the place where contributors create issues for bugs or feature requests much like GitHub.https://core.trac.wordpress.org/. ticket for this is #18198 but we’re going to discuss details here first.

      Would love to see the widgetWidget A WordPress Widget is a small block that performs a specific function. You can add these widgets in sidebars also known as widget-ready areas on your web page. WordPress widgets were originally created to provide a simple and easy-to-use way of giving design and structure control of the WordPress theme to the user. section get optimized for larger screens. The attached screenshot is only 1920×1080 even smaller than your 27in iMac but you can see we aren’t utilizing our space properly. The unused widgets should be consolidated and constrained and allow for multiple columns of live widgets

  Matt Thomas has provided us with the PSD comp that he used for the dashboard for the 3.2 redesign. It isn’t perfect to what the admin looks like now, but its a good jumping off point. Anyone want to make this PSD true to the current admin? Thanks MT!

I’m sorry, I wasn’t able to listen in on the IRC discussion, but what are the intentions then of filling the large monitors? (I have a 27″ imac as well, but I rarely ever run a browser window full width, generally no site would take advantage of it).
What would we do with all the space? What were some of the ideas?

I know this is an old post, sorry 🙂

In regards to having a responsive admin, I know large resolutions were the focus of 3.3. What would it take to make 3.4’s admin usable on a smartphone? I’m good with CSSCSS CSS is an acronym for cascading style sheets. This is what controls the design or look and feel of a site. and making unresponsive features responsive (like themes and plugins), I could play around with the layout on smaller screens. The two biggest culprits seem to be the top admin bar and TinyMCE on the edit pages. Also, if the admin layout would adjust the number of columns based on the resolution that would help.

I’ve never hacked around with WordPress coreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress.. Where would I start?
