weekly bugbug A bug is an error or unexpected result. Performance improvements,
code optimization, and are considered enhancements, not defects. After feature freeze,
only bugs are dealt with, with regressions (adverse changes from the previous version)
being the highest priority. scrubs beginning in September, every **Thursday at 1

### New Database Index Proposal

[@josephscott](https://profiles.wordpress.org/josephscott/) proposed adding a new
database index to improve performance on sites with a large number of posts or custom
post types. The index would be:

    ```notranslate
    CREATE INDEX type_status_author ON wp_posts (post_type, post_status, post_author);
    ```

This change would speed up queries for the _All Posts_ adminadmin (and super admin)
page. Details are in TracTrac An open source project by Edgewall Software that serves
as a bug tracker and project management tool for WordPress. ticket [#50161, comment 7](https://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/50161#comment:7).

 3. I have decided to run bugbug A bug is an error or unexpected result. Performance
     improvements, code optimization, and are considered enhancements, not defects.
     After feature freeze, only bugs are dealt with, with regressions (adverse changes
     from the previous version) being the highest priority.-scrubs every Thursday,
     starting in September, @ 1 PM GMT. I will be focusing mainly on the Post/Post
     Types Component, it will be for a good while, probably until 2026, depending on
     how much time it takes to triagetriage The act of evaluating and sorting bug reports,
     in order to decide priority, severity, and other factors. through this component.

 8.  This adds `CREATE INDEX type_status_author ON wp_posts (post_type, post_status,
     post_author);` which can speed up the `All Posts` page on sites with a large number
     of posts, or custom post types.

 11. Great to see the roadmap for 6.9 shaping up. The new database index proposal is
     especially interesting for sites with heavy post queries.
      I’ve been collecting
     resources on [WordPress performance and release preparation](http://freakbobtime.com/why-the-august-27-wordpress-dev-chat-matters)
     that could be useful alongside this discussion.
