Last week, there were some exciting developments in the GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc. https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/ Editor. Below, you’ll find an overview of the key changes and improvements.

Enhancementenhancement Enhancements are simple improvements to WordPress, such as the addition of a hook, a new feature, or an improvement to an existing feature. ✨

• Search Block: Background wrapper for ‘Button Inside’ option – This issue is a follow up of #69318 Currently, the ‘Button Inside’ option in the Search BlockBlock Block is the abstract term used to describe units of markup that, composed together, form the content or layout of a webpage using the WordPress editor. The idea combines concepts of what in the past may have achieved with shortcodes, custom HTML, and embed discovery into a single consistent API and user experience. is missing a background wrapper with a common color as of the input, making the input and button appear separate instead of part of a single container.
• Advanced Margin and Padding Editing for Block – Currently, the management of internal (padding) and external (margin) spacing for blocks in Gutenberg is limited and not very intuitive. Adding an advanced interface similar to Elementor would allow users to have precise control over block spacing without needing custom CSSCSS Cascading Style Sheets..
• Enhanced Block Management – Enhance Block Swapping – Intuitive Drag-and-Drop for Left/Right Reordering – The current block movement system in Gutenberg relies on up and down arrows or a basic drag-and-drop mechanism, which can be restrictive and unintuitive. A more visual and flexible approach, similar to how Elementor or Beaver Builder handles block positioning, would greatly enhance the user experience.
• Column alignment for table block when pasting Markdown – When pasting a Markdown table into the editor, it converts to a table block. However the column text alignment is not carried over.
• Add “Boundary View Mode” to Display Block Outlines in the Gutenberg Editor
  • Associated PR #69388 – This PR adds a new “Boundary Mode” that helps users visualise block boundaries during editing.
• PR – List Block: Refactor setting panel to use ToolsPanel – Make the settings panel more consistent with other blocks
• PR – Button Block: Add draft page creation capability – This PR adds the ability to create draft pages directly from the button block in the navigation editor, similar to how it already works in the navigation link block.
• PR – Navigation in Site View: Automatically expand all options – This PR changes the default state of navigation submenus in Site View from collapsed to expanded, making all navigation options immediately visible to users without requiring manual expansion.

Bug 🐛

• Block Directory: Issues in installing blocks from Inserter – When debugging the the issue #69315 found that when installing a block from inserter and then saving the post the block pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party doesn’t install and block disappears.
