Found a bugbug A bug is an error or unexpected result. Performance improvements, code optimization, and are considered enhancements, not defects. After feature freeze, only bugs are dealt with, with regressions (adverse changes from the previous version) being the highest priority.? Create a ticket in the bug tracker.

I have something to share regarding the recently merged resizable editor work. The resizing functions by manipulating stylesheets, using the browser CSSStyleSheet APIAPI An API or Application Programming Interface is a software intermediary that allows programs to interact with each other and share data in limited, clearly defined ways., so it only works if the relevant CSSCSS Cascading Style Sheets. is in an external stylesheet.

One existing problem with this is theme-defined editor styles (which could potentially be relevant for resizing) are currently loaded inside a style tagtag A directory in Subversion. WordPress uses tags to store a single snapshot of a version (3.6, 3.6.1, etc.), the common convention of tags in version control systems. (Not to be confused with post tags.) at the bottom of the body. As I understand it, we’re working to bring the editor markup closer to the front end, so editor styles will hopefully become unnecessary and this problem will Just Go Away.

However, a potential problem for the future is that any component using CSS-in-JSJS JavaScript, a web scripting language typically executed in the browser. Often used for advanced user interfaces and behaviors. also won’t be resized. Currently, our adoption of CSS-in-JS is at an experimental stage, but if we go further with it this might become a real problem. And it’s one I don’t have a good solution for yet 😅but I think it’s important to bring it up earlier rather than later.

1. Having a test/lab site up making it easy for anyone to test out new features even before they are merged. Example testing out: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/pull/19344 in a lab/test site.
The lab site can also be used for user testing.
