Let's chat about CSS standards

Since last reviewing the WordPress CSSCSS Cascading Style Sheets. Coding standards, the CSS specs have changed significantly. Additionally, browser manufactures are rapidly adopting the new standards, allowing them to be used in production quickly.

Coding standards

To start with, let’s discuss the following additions to the CSS specifications and how best to support them with the browser support requirements of WordPress CoreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress.:

• Improved layout techniques: CSS grid
• CSS variables

Existing experiments

There’s a lot happening in CSS land lately: experiments with CSS variables and CSS-in-JS and prototypes for a global style system are some of the most exciting things being worked on right now.
