Found a bugbug A bug is an error or unexpected result. Performance improvements, code optimization, and are considered enhancements, not defects. After feature freeze, only bugs are dealt with, with regressions (adverse changes from the previous version) being the highest priority.? Create a ticket in the bug tracker.
Want to contribute? Get started quickly with tickets marked as good first bugs for new contributors or join a bug scrub. There’s more on the reports page, like patches needing testing, and on feature projects page.

I made the suggestion in SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. here that rather than calling the project “WP Notify” I suggested it be called “Notifications APIAPI An API or Application Programming Interface is a software intermediary that allows programs to interact with each other and share data in limited, clearly defined ways.”.

I suggested the change as “Notifications API” is a clearer definition of the project scope IMHO

I would point out that the goal is not just to introduce an API, we also want to introduce a better experience, of which a new API will form part of. So perhaps Notifications Feature is more apt?

Whilst I agree that the Notifications API is only one part, it is the most fundamental part of the project from a developers point of view.

Prior history of this discussion has taken place in the #43484 ticketticket Created for both bug reports and feature development on the bug tracker., where the first step is to implement the Notifications API and then have WordPress CoreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress.   I honestly thought “WP Notify” is some sort of notification pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party, managing email notifications. The point is to get notification in one place, so something dull as Notification Center would be fitting.
