The Accessibility Accessibility (commonly shortened to a11y) refers to the design of products, devices, services, or environments for people with disabilities. The concept of accessible design ensures both “direct access” (i.e. unassisted) and “indirect access” meaning compatibility with a person’s assistive technology (for example, computer screen readers). (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accessibility) Team last conducted a series of accessibility user tests in March. A lot of effort has been made to improve the accessibility of Gutenberg since those tests were conducted. It’s time to conduct another set of tests, so we want your help! What’s working better? What still needs work?
If you currently use an assistive technology Assistive technology is an umbrella term that includes assistive, adaptive, and rehabilitative devices for people with disabilities and also includes the process used in selecting, locating, and using them. Users might say something along the lines of “Ping me when the meeting starts.” tofumatt in the #core-editor Slack channel to coordinate the tests. The tests will focus on common tasks to gauge Gutenberg’s current accessibility.
We’ll work out logistics (remote testing or in-person, etc.) for each person. This way the process will be as simple as possible for you. 😊
