After feature freeze, only bugs are dealt with, with regressions (adverse changes from the previous version) being the highest priority.? Create a ticket in the bug tracker.

4.9.8 Release

4.9.8 RC3 dropped on Tuesday, July 31, with one enhancementenhancement Enhancements are simple improvements to WordPress, such as the addition of a hook, a new feature, or an improvement to an existing feature. since it’s predecessor. Based on feedback, release leads scheduled a full release for 4.9.8 for Thursday, August 02 at 20:00 UTC
💥AND. IT. HAPPENED.💥 Congratulations and thank you to release leads @pbiron and @joshuawold; deputies @sergeybiryukov and @psykro; and to everyone who contributed to 4.9.8.
This maintenance release fixed 46 bugs and had two major goals:
- Introducing the “Try GutenbergGutenberg The Gutenberg project is the new Editor Interface for WordPress. The editor improves the process and experience of creating new content, making writing rich content much simpler. It uses ‘blocks’ to add richness rather than shortcodes, custom HTML etc. https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/” callout – @pento authored a post with more information. - Privacy fixes/enhancements – Read the release post linked above for more details.
Spoiler: You can now register meta keys for object subtypes.
