# New Contributors Meeting Recap – July 5

The inaugural [New Contributors Meeting](https://make.wordpress.org/core/2017/06/30/announcing-a-weekly-new-contributors-meeting/)
was held on [Wed July 5th at 19:00](https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20170705T1900)
and had a great turnout with lots of questions asked in the [#core](https://make.wordpress.org/core/tag/core/)
channel (read the full [archive](https://wordpress.slack.com/archives/C02RQBWTW/p1499281230788378)).

The informal agenda was to try and answer as many general questions as possible
and then move over to a bugbug A bug is an error or unexpected result. Performance
improvements, code optimization, and are considered enhancements, not defects. After
feature freeze, only bugs are dealt with, with regressions (adverse changes from
the previous version) being the highest priority. scrub/ticketticket Created for
both bug reports and feature development on the bug tracker. review portion.

 3. I cannot join the next week (here in Italy is like 9pm).
     I have different patches
    that I’ve done [https://core.trac.wordpress.org/my-patches?USER=mte90](https://core.trac.wordpress.org/my-patches?USER=mte90)
that are waiting a dev-feedback from months. I stopped to contributing because
of this big delay in feedbacks of my code so can you put in the agenda few of them?
will be very helpful to improve my contribution and wordpress itself of course
    🙂

     * We’ll be looking at rotating meeting times in the future to better accommodate
other time zones. In the meantime, thanks for posting your patches and your
patience 🙂 I know it can be frustrating when there is no movement on your tickets.
I’ll do my best to review these this week.

 7. I’d recommend we look at the questions brought up during these meetings as opportunities
to improve documentation in the CoreCore Core is the set of software required to
run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. handbook. With that
in mind, do we feel that the items from last week are lacking sufficient definition
in the handbook or are there other ways to help elevate that information for new
    contributors?
