Found a bugbug A bug is an error or unexpected result. Performance improvements, code optimization, and are considered enhancements, not defects. After feature freeze, only bugs are dealt with, with regressions (adverse changes from the previous version) being the highest priority.? Create a ticket in the bug tracker.
Want to contribute? Get started quickly with tickets marked as good first bugs for new contributors or join a bug scrub. There’s more on the reports page, like patches needing testing, and on feature projects page.

The visual editor can reformat content (remove empty elements, add br or p tags to within scripts, etc.), and now many are noticing that with the code text widgetWidget A WordPress Widget is a small block that performs a specific function. You can add these widgets in sidebars also known as widget-ready areas on your web page. WordPress widgets were originally created to provide a simple and easy-to-use way of giving design and structure control of the WordPress theme to the user. now defaulting to MCE view. Possible idea for 4.9 brainstorming (but more likely for 4.10 or later): I’ve got a number of ideas for a reworking of export/import, spurred in part of some work I’ve done on the WordPress-Importer redux pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party over on GitHubGitHub GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged be the repository owner. https://github.com/.

For starters:
1. make the importer fully XML namespace-aware;
2. using `XMLWriter` to generate the export markup (instead of `echo` statements (this would probably also apply to all the RSS/Atom feed code as well);
3. hooksHooks In WordPress theme and development, hooks are functions that can be applied to an action or a Filter in WordPress. Actions are functions performed when a certain event occurs in WordPress. Filters allow you to modify certain functions. Arguments used to hook both filters and actions look the same. in the exporter (and corresponding hooks in the importer) to make it possible for plugins to add export/import additional information (e.g., info from private tables that is associated with posts/terms/authors).
4. a reworking of the WXR XML markup (to make both namespace-aware processing and a true streaming importer easier);

  1. publish documentation on WXR, preferably in the form of an XML Schema. I’ve produced a sample schema that can be found at WXR. [Note: as mentioned in the readme there, the schema in NOT intended for run-time validation, but only to document the markup of WXR.]

One small thing: sometimes when you get an update notice for something, you realize you don’t need it. (Like old twenty* themes.) Ability to delete a pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party or theme from the updates screen, instead of updating it.
