Found a bugbug A bug is an error or unexpected result. Performance improvements, code optimization, and are considered enhancements, not defects. After feature freeze, only bugs are dealt with, with regressions (adverse changes from the previous version) being the highest priority.? Create a ticket in the bug tracker.

It seems like “progress” in WordPress only makes it bigger. It wasn’t that long ago that the zip for WordPress was just over 4meg. Now it is over 8meg. Do we ever streamline and remove things, or just add?
My thoughts go to this because adding a code editor is just fluff, and doesn’t seem like it would meet the 80-20 rule.

Jeffrey Paul, I think this has not cured the problem. We upgraded all our sites and today we saw a new hack that had created a new Post claiming to be “Whitehat Hacker warning us to upgrade our site” installing a new post on our own website (thankfully not a clients one).

We also are seeing a warning that a PluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party called “” (yes you are reading correctly, it is blank name) needing an upgrade which is being picked up by WordPress and also Wordfence. Of course no such plugin exists in the WordPress panel (even though it shows the red warning to say 1 plugin needs updating). We have checked the server and there was nothing in /plugin/ directory, so no idea where this is coming from nor if this is related with the latest hack.

This is very worrying given that this occured after the upgrade to 4.7.2 and all associated plugins were upgraded at the same time. We are now going through the server with a fine toothcomb to see if we can find anything hidden.

Would appreciate your thoughts on this.

    Thanks. I did report this to security at the same time. I just wanted people to be on their guard as 4.7.2 does not appear to be the end of the story. We will send security an update on our findings by the end of today.
