Weekly Dev Chat Agenda for May 25 — Five Weeks Later

Agenda for the weekly dev meeting on May 25 2016 at 20:00 UTC:

  • Update on WordPress 4.5.3
  • Autoloading in CoreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress.
    • The following tickets should be read so a decision for 4.6 (and the future) can be made:
      • #36926: Compatibility shim for spl_autoload_register()
      • #36335: Implementation of an autoloader
  • Feature project updates
    • The update should include answers for the following questions:
      1. What has the team achieved since last week?
      2. Is the team still targeting 4.6 for a merge? (Final decision time is in 2 weeks.)
      3. Are there any blockers which need a bigger audience? Something which should be discussed in the dev chat?
      4. What are the next steps? / What does the team want to achieve by next week?
    • Teams:
  • Component announcements/updates
  • Open discussion
    • @danielbachhuber: Follow-up discussion about the WP REST APIREST API The REST API is an acronym for the RESTful Application Program Interface (API) that uses HTTP requests to GET, PUT, POST and DELETE data. It is how the front end of an application (think “phone app” or “website”) can communicate with the data store (think “database” or “file system”) https://developer.wordpress.org/rest-api/.
    • @jeremyfelt: Naming discussion, see comment
