The coreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. pluginPlugin A plugin is a piece of software containing a group of functions that can be added to a WordPress website. They can extend functionality or add new features to your WordPress websites. WordPress plugins are written in the PHP programming language and integrate seamlessly with WordPress. These can be free in the WordPress.org Plugin Directory https://wordpress.org/plugins/ or can be cost-based plugin from a third-party pilots, health check and post by email, now have developer mailing lists. You can sign up for the mailing lists if you’re interested in being involved with the development of either of these plugins. Note: these lists are NOT meant for discussion of the core plugin concept, just for the development of the actual plugins, so please keep on topic to minimize noise. The idea is that as we move forward in figuring out core plugins as a concept, each one will have a mailing list for developers, and one for notifications. I’ve heard talk about having notification lists for all plugins in the repo, too, but that’s a different topic. 🙂
