Here\u2019s how to get your community set up<\/strong>
\nJoin the #<\/span>community-slack-migration<\/a> channel in Make WordPress SlackSlack<\/span> Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https:\/\/slack.com\/<\/a>. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https:\/\/make.wordpress.org\/chat\/<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span> and post a request with:
\n* Your group name
\n* Your Meetup.com URLURL<\/span> A specific web address of a website or web page on the Internet, such as a website\u2019s URL www.wordpress.org<\/span><\/span><\/span> or equivalent community page
\n* A list of any channels that need to be created<\/p>\n

We\u2019ll work with you to take care of the rest and let you know the timing based on your needs.

What about our message history?<\/strong>
\nWe can import messages. File imports aren\u2019t currently supported, but existing workspace exports can be converted to HTMLHTML<\/span> HTML is an acronym for Hyper Text Markup Language. It is a markup language that is used in the development of web pages and websites.<\/span><\/span><\/span> and stored in Google Drive so your history isn\u2019t lost. Just mention it in your request and we\u2019ll work with you on it.<\/p>\n

What if we need more than one channel?<\/strong>
\nStart with your main channel and see how it goes. If your community grows and needs more structure \u2014 separate channels for docs, events, or dev discussion, for example \u2014 we can work with you on that.<\/p>\n

What about private channels for organizers?<\/strong>
\nPrivate organizer channels are handled case-by-case. Just mention it in your request.<\/p>\n

Do our members need a WordPress.orgWordPress.org<\/span> The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https:\/\/wordpress.org\/<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span> account?<\/strong>
\nYes, a WordPress.org account is required to join Make WordPress Slack. If your members don\u2019t have one yet, they can create one here<\/a>.<\/p>\n
