The three goals are:

  3. Improve processes and workflows within the community team to work more efficiently, effectively, and transparently together.

  • Community Team Training #7: Community Team Roles Overview & Discussion – Recently, there was a proposal to streamline the roles within the WordPress Community Team. This discussion session aims to provide an opportunity for the team members to explain their roles, answer any questions the community may have, and gather feedback from the attendees.
  • These are the two posts that relate to the training. Both posts are undergoing revisionsRevisions The WordPress revisions system stores a record of each saved draft or published update. The revision system allows you to see what changes were made in each revision by dragging a slider (or using the Next/Previous buttons). The display indicates what has changed in each revision. based on feedback. Updated versions should be out next week. Some names have changed and information adjusted for clarity, but the basic information will be consistent:
  • Community Team Goals for 2023 : Next Step – The 2023 Community Goals are posted on Trello. Please leave feedback there.
  • Launching the Contributor Working Group: Call for Volunteers – The mentorship program is going to be an ambitious endeavor, and its success depends on support and contributions from passionate volunteers. Even though this group is tied to the Make/Community Team, its work spans the entire project. If you’d like to help out, read more.
  • Running Funds Outside of WPCS – For some communities, handling the financial aspects of a WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Updated Guidelines for In-Person WordCamps and Meetups 2022

The Community team has new, mandatory guidelines for all WordCamps and MeetupsMeetup Meetup groups are locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis (commonly once a month). Learn more about Meetups in our Meetup Organizer Handbook., which include following local guidelines, checking for vaccinations where legally permissible, and mandatory masks. The area must pass the in-person checklist in areas where the venue cannot legally check for vaccination status.

2022 Community Team Goals

We have already received several excellent suggestions for Community Team goals in 2022. We have compiled these goals in the Community Team Trello Board. Revisiting Safe In-person WordPress Events
Last year, we opened up pathways to the return of In-person WordCamps, MeetupsMeetup Meetup groups are locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis (commonly once a month). Learn more about Meetups in our Meetup Organizer Handbook., and do_actiondo_action do_action hackathons are community-organised events that are focussed on using WordPress to give deserving charitable organisations their own online presence. However, in the light of the new COVID-19 variants along with the recent surge in COVID cases around the world, it is time to start a discussion on supporting the safety of In-person WordPress events. Let us discuss more on what additional guidelines can be done to support the safety of In-person WordPress events in 2022.

New meeting times

As per the decision made some weeks ago, this is the last Community Team bi-weekly meeting. After this meeting the Community Team will have three monthly meetings:

  • Community Team meeting, on the first Thursday of each month
  • Comunity Local Organiser meeting, on the second week of each month
