Hey y’all The swag store has moved over…

Hey y’all. The swag store has moved over to a woo-powered setup at mercantile.wordpress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/. HelloMerch is still doing the fulfillment. Let’s put sending swag on hold for a couple of days until we are sure everything is working the way we need it to. (This does not apply to asking Jenny to send EU swag.) Will post here when we’re ready to start shipping again.

Swag Tracking Addresses issue.

Report:

There has been some issues with the swag tracking addresses coming from Hello Merch. When you click on the link, the tracking number will not be recognised by the delivery service website.

Issue:

The links they give are sometimes reference the FedEx site with a tracking number.

After speaking to Hello Merch’s Erik it turns out that they are using UPS as their carrier for a lot of shipments but their email system is sending the wrong delivery service address in some emails.

Fix:

If you come across a tracking address that is incorrect, try going to the UPS.com website and use the same tracking number as given by Hello Merch to find the shipment’s real carrier.

If you still have issues, let us know with your order ID so we can escalate it to Hello Merch.

Swag Packs

Currently, Cami and Josepha have the ability to send swag packs to WCs and meetupsMeetup Meetup groups are locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis (commonly once a month). Learn more about Meetups in our Meetup Organizer Handbook.: 100 or 200-count packs of mixed stickers and buttons, or 100-packs of lanyards. I’d like to propose some changes.

First! all the superdeputies will now be able to ship swag and lanyards to the WordCamps and meetups they are supporting. That’s @brandondove, @kcristiano, @adityakane, @karenalma, @mayukojpn (plus Cami, Josepha, Andrea, and me). Yay for speedier swag.

Second! Right now stuff is packed like this:

  • 200 buttons and stickers (each, in one shipment)
  • 100 buttons and stickers (each, in one shipment)
  • 100 lanyards

I propose that we change our swag options to be packs of 250 and 500 rather than 100 and 200. Even a small WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. or a meetupMeetup Meetup groups are locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis (commonly once a month). Learn more about Meetups in our Meetup Organizer Handbook. will go through 250 pretty easily. Since lanyards aren’t likely to get used up or distributed over the year at meetups, there’s no reason to send more than they need, so sticking with 100-packs makes sense.

What do y’all think?

(This is purely about packaging. What designs should be included will be coming up in the near future.)

Stickers for Community Events

We currently ship WordPress stickers (supplied by Sticker Giant) and buttons (supplied by Busy Beaver Button Co.) to every WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. In an effort to bring more of these activities into the public eye, I’m posting the pricing we’ve been given by Sticker Giant for a sticker re-order.

We generally order a large quantity of stickers twice a year and ask Sticker Giant to divide them into small packs of 250 for WordCamps as well as some smaller packs of 50 for meetupsMeetup Meetup groups are locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis (commonly once a month). Learn more about Meetups in our Meetup Organizer Handbook.. An order of 20,000 stickers will yield 70 WordCamp packs and 50 meetup packs.

The pricing of the diversity stickers is higher because of how many colors are on the sticker — rainbows have lots of colors — and it’s a 4-color process rather than screen printing because screen printing all those colors would be more expensive still.

I’ll be ordering 20,000 stickers today and sending them to our shipping fulfiller asap so we can get them shipped to community organizers! Yay swag!
