Welcome

WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They’re one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. KidsCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences that focus on engaging young adults and kids with WordPress. Each KidsCamp is based on the same base curriculum but also reflects the local WordPress community in which it takes place.

Because KidsCamps are supported by WordPress Community SupportWordPress Community Support WordPress Community Support PBC is a Public Benefit Corporation, created specifically to be the financial and legal support for WordCamps, WordPress Meetup groups, and any additional “official” events organized within the WordPress Community Events program., each event — while they are unique — follows some basic expectations and guidelines to ensure that KidsCamp attendees know what to expect when attending a KidsCamp near them.

It’s important to note that these expectations and guidelines have been developed in response to feedback from WordPress community members. As WordPress becomes more popular than ever (over 35 million users at last count), it has become necessary to be careful when granting permission to use the trademark in order to prevent confusion about what sites, companies, people, and events are officially representative of the WordPress project. When people see an event on WordCamp.org they know it can be trusted to live up to their expectations, and accurately represent WordPress.

In addition to laying out the requirements for approval, this site provides guidance regarding the tasks and decisions common to many KidsCamps. Tips and examples are taken from the experiences of past organizers, and more will be added as they are submitted.

If you’re interested in organizing your own KidsCamp, please check out the “Become an Organizer” section. If it sounds like organizing a KidsCamp is something you’d like to do, please fill out the Organizer Application, and someone will be in contact with you soon!
