Welcome! WordPress Credits is an experiential learning initiative designed to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world digital contribution. By joining this program, your institution empowers students to become active participants in the open-source ecosystem while building a verifiable professional portfolio.

How the Program Works

The program is built on a framework of active contribution and mentorship. To ensure a high-quality experience, the program follows these coreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. pillars:

  • Commitment: Students are expected to commit a minimum of 50 hours to the program.
  • Learning Platform: We provide a dedicated platform where students complete curated WordPress courses and log their progress.

The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/ account to join the international WordPress community, allowing them to collaborate with global contributors and program mentorsEvent Supporter Event Supporter (formerly Mentor) is someone who has already organised a WordCamp and has time to meet with their assigned mentee every 2 weeks, they talk over where they should be in their timeline, help them to identify their issues, and also identify solutions for their issues..
  • Verifiable Impact: Students create a WordPress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ account to track their official contributions, providing them with a permanent, public record of their work.

The Path to Your First Cohort

Transitioning from an interested partner to an active program host is a streamlined process. Here is what you can expect:

5Growth & FeedbackWe maintain a continuous feedback loopLoop The Loop is PHP code used by WordPress to display posts. Using The Loop, WordPress processes each post to be displayed on the current page, and formats it according to how it matches specified criteria within The Loop tags. Any HTML or PHP code in the Loop will be processed on each post. https://codex.wordpress.org/The_Loop to refine the experience and discuss scaling the program to future students.

What to Expect

Once the program begins, your students will shift from being passive users of the web to active builders. You can expect regular updates on student progress and a final report detailing the contributions made by your cohort to the WordPress project.
