Sometimes organizers and facilitators of WPCC events need to travel a distance from their home to facilitate these events, which can cause larger travel expenses than expected on their end. In order to assist with that, organizers may raise funding through recruiting a WordPress Campus Connect Travel Partner who can sponsor the transit and meals required to and from the event.
Requirements
- Applies only to WordPress Campus Connect (WPCC) events, not WordCamps, MeetupsMeetup Meetup groups are locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis (commonly once a month). - Covers only travel and meals for facilitators/organizers traveling to schools or universities outside their home city, not organizer dinners, social gatherings, or discretionary expenses
- Funding must come from a local sponsor, never from program/community funds
- Recognition is limited to a “Travel Partner” credit (e.g., on the event website), not full event sponsor status, no logo placement equivalent to global sponsors
- Sponsor must still pass standard trademark and GPLGPL GPL is an acronym for GNU Public License. It is the standard license WordPress uses for Open Source licensing https://wordpress.org/about/license/. The GPL is a ācopyleftā license https://www.gnu.org/licenses/copyleft.en.html. This means that derivative work can only be distributed under the same license terms. This is in distinction to permissive free software licenses, of which the BSD license and the MIT License are widely used examples. compliance review, same bar as any other sponsor
Note that this is not a recurring guarantee, and is evaluated per event, based on genuine distance/access need, not a default option organizers can request
