Mentor Responsibilities
MentorsEvent Supporter Event Supporter (formerly Mentor) is someone who has already organised a WordCamp and has time to meet with their assigned mentee every 2 weeks, they talk over where they should be in their timeline, help them to identify their issues, and also identify solutions for their issues. are expected to guide event organizers through the entire process, from initial application to post-event wrap-up. Key responsibilities include:
- Guidance: Offer support throughout the entire organizing process.
- Encouragement & Unblocking: Encourage organizers, help them solve problems, and keep them motivated.
- Review & Feedback: Review organizers’ plans and provide actionable feedback to ensure events are impactful and successful.
- Best Practices: Share insights on event best practices, resources, and community standards.
- Supportive Presence: Be a supportive, inclusive, and approachable figure for new organizers.
- Office HoursOffice Hours Defined times when the Global Community Team are in the #community-events Slack channel. If there is anything you would like to discuss – you do not need to inform them in advance.You are very welcome to drop into any of the Community Team Slack channels at any time.: Host a one-hour Campus Connect Office Hours call once every two months.
Requirements & Commitment

Eligibility Criteria
Prospective mentors will be vetted before acceptance into the program. To be eligible, you must:
- Have contributed to the WordPress project (as a contributor or organizer).
- Preferably have prior experience in event organization, community building, or mentorship, with a strong preference for those who have organized or volunteered for a WordPress Campus Connect event.
- Demonstrate strong communication, inclusivity, and teamwork skills.
- Be comfortable with asynchronous digital communication tools.
- Be able to attend occasional synchronous meetings.
- Be willing and able to commit the required time and responsibilities.
Mentor Support
As a Campus Connect Mentor, you will receive the following support:
- Orientation: Access to an orientation and resources to help you get started confidently.
- Onboarding Call: After being approved as a mentor, you will be notified to join a mentor onboarding call.
- Resources: Access to templates, guidelines, and best practices.
- Community: A dedicated SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/. channel for ongoing discussions and peer support.
- Ongoing Support: There are also ongoing mentor office hour meetings to provide continuing support and community connection.
- Coordination: Regular check-ins from the Campus Connect coordination team.
