The Next Generation of WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more., sometimes referred to as NextGen WordPress event, is a Community Team project launched in May 2023. The project offers a new purpose for our WordPress events:

WordPress events spark innovation and adoption by way of accessible training and networking for users, builders, designers, and extenders. We celebrate community by accelerating 21st-century skills, professional opportunities, and partnerships for WordPressers of today and tomorrow.

The Community Team has been receiving ideas from around the world and transforming some of them into pilot projects which will be implemented starting in July 2023.

Ideas Form and Talking Points

If you want to bring the conversation to your locale community and help them to get involved, you can translate the Ideas Form and Talking Points into your locale.

Discovery Call

After new ideas are received, the Community Team organizes a Discover Call where Community Program Support or Managers meet with the community organizers and find out more about the idea. The goal is to identify ideas that are implementable and can join the experimentation as a pilot project. The community organizer will then submit a pitch or a short proposal to suppot@wordcamp.org.
