This is the home of the Make Community team for the WordPress open sourceOpen Source Open Source denotes software for which the original source code is made freely available and may be redistributed and modified. Open Source **must be** delivered via a licensing model, see GPL. project!

Here is where we have policy debates, project announcements, and assist community members in organizing events.

Everyone is welcome to comment on posts and participate in the discussions regardless of skill level or experience.

The Community Team chat takes place the first Thursday of every month.

This meeting is meant for all contributors on the team and everyone who is interested in taking part in some of the things our team does. Feel free to join us, even if you are not currently active in the team!

Community Team Training #11: Using the Translate Live tool – @samsuresh has invited Alex Kirk to demonstrate the potential of the “Translate Live” tool, ideal for presenting at your local meetupsMeetup Meetup groups are locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis (commonly once a month). Learn more about Meetups in our Meetup Organizer Handbook. to engage and onboard new translators for your native language. Join us 9 November at 11:00am UTC for this live zoom presentation.
Next-Gen Events: Technical Check-in – @dufresnesteven has posted highlights of some of the technical changes and new features that his team has added to our tools to support this pilot program.
NextGen WordPress Events: Discover the Future of WordPress Gatherings – @juliarosia has published a living handbook page related to the new style of WordPress events the community is proposing. Please leave any feedback you have as well as see what events are upcoming and those that have been held.
Events of the Month – September – @harmonyromo has begun providing real-time information for event organizers and the community alike with the first month-in-review post. This post recaps the prior month’s events and how they fared financially, in terms of ticket sales and budget.

2024 Community Team Reps Nominations and Proposal for Reps Structure – Voting is now open for 2024 Team Reps and @nukaga has proposed on behalf of the other team reps some changes to how this process may work in the future. She is asking for nominations in the comments of the post by 2023-11-6. Self-nominations are welcome.

If we’re honest, most of us would probably not cite meeting agendas as the thing that sets our hearts aflame. However, if you’re hoping to have productive meetings that deliver the outcome your team needs, your meeting agenda is going to be a significant deciding factor.

When it’s done right, an agenda will ensure that you and your team show up prepared, focused, and energized to work towards a defined goal. When it’s not done right, you’re likely to end the meeting with a demotivated (and, potentially, confused) team, a wasted few hours, and an uphill struggle to get the task at hand completed.
