Community Team Meeting Agenda for 3 August, 2023

The Community Team chat takes place the first Thursday of every month. 

This meeting is meant for all contributors on the team and everyone who is interested in taking part in some of the things our team does. Feel free to join us, even if you are not currently active in the team!

Here are a few things everyone should be aware of.

• Proposal: Next Generation Event URL – The Next Generation Events team has asked the development team to create a new URLURL A specific web address of a website or web page on the Internet, such as a website’s URL www.wordpress.org structure that will accommodate a diversity of event types. The new structure will be: events.wordpress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org//city(or country)/year/event-type

• New handbook page for WordCamp Organizers: WordCamp Speaker Selection (for content AND diversity) -Your event’s speaker line up is a big deal, and Jill is here to help! Use, and share, these tips and best practices for assembling a rich and diverse speaker line up.
• Q3: Community Team Process and Documentation Updates – Work continues to update and improve the Community Team contributor experience. See what’s planned for Q3, and the Summary of the Q2 Community Team Role Updates.
• Announcing the Inaugural Cohort of the WordPress Contributor Mentorship Program! – The new Mentorship Program is underway! Read the announcement to learn more about the program, and then follow along in the newly-formed #contributor-mentorship channel of the Make/WordPress SlackSlack Slack is a Collaborative Group Chat Platform https://slack.com/. The WordPress community has its own Slack Channel at https://make.wordpress.org/chat/., where interested folks can join most of our contributing sessions and onboarding sessions which will also be shared widely with our community.
• New GitHub Feature Request: Separating access to the Meetup and WordCamp trackers – Separating access gives the Community Team more flexibility and ways to contribute. Comments are open on the post.

• Contributor DayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. The US flagship WordCamp event. 2023 – This year’s team will be led by @samsuresh. @brandondove has volunteered to help welcome and guide newcomers to the Community Team. @st810amaze, @nukaga, and @tacoverdo will be helping out as well. I’ll be popping in when I can. If you’d like to help, contact one of these team members.
  
• Can You Help the Week of WCUS 2023? – Speaking of helping…. The work of the Community Team still goes on even when flagship events are happening. @sippis has already stepped up to commit to helping with HelpScout and monitoring Slack. We still need at least four other team members to help with various roles: mainly HelpScout, MeetupMeetup Meetup groups are locally-organized groups that get together for face-to-face events on a regular basis (commonly once a month). Learn more about Meetups in our Meetup Organizer Handbook. and WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. • Finally, if you are a Program SupporterProgram Supporter Community Program Supporters (formerly Deputies) are a team of people worldwide who review WordCamp and Meetup applications, interview lead organizers, and keep things moving at WordCamp Central.
