@wpfangirl said that our Inclusion workshop last week was really illuminating

@martatorre asked if we have a safe space program, such as groups that are just for women so they feel safe to talk and discuss technology without fear. Answer: Not officially, but groups are welcome to do this as they choose. There are certain guidelines and recommendations in this thread on WordPress Slack.

The Inclusion workshop with special guest @camikaos last week went great! And @boren sharing valuable links from stimpunks.org.

11 attended from 10 cities in 5 countries

First results — sometimes go up more with the feedback form due a week later: self-reported preparedness to run an inclusive event score went up 59%!

@santanainnis had good interactions on the posts about last week’s workshop, and it showed. We had a big uptick in number of registrations after she started posting.


– WPDiversity APAC (@onealtr)

WordCampWordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. They're one of the places where the WordPress community comes together to teach one another what they’ve learned throughout the year and share the joy. Learn more. Kerala will be this weekend. They shared with us that 4 of the speakers will be from our diverse speaker workshops.

WordCamps in Asia are being announced.

7 – Diversity in Spain project (@martatorre) + Ideas wanted: Diversity room & cameras (@jillbinder & @martatorre)

@martatorre asked for ideas for the diversity table (which will be a classroom) on Contributor dayContributor Day Contributor Days are standalone days, frequently held before or after WordCamps but they can also happen at any time. She will also have access to a professional camera and asked for ideas on what to do with the cameras.

Not something created by our group, but created by others in the community who are passionate about diversity in WordPress: @martatorre shared with us that there is a WordPress t-shirt that represents diversity that is for sale in the online WordPress store. https://mercantile.wordpress.org/product/diversity-wordpress-t-shirt/.

If many of us are interested in it, we can get a discount for our team.
