  • Looking for women (people who identify as women some or all of the time) volunteers during the workshop:
    • If you’ve done public speaking or are a WP event organizer, you can mentorEvent Supporter Event Supporter (formerly Mentor) is someone who has already organised a WordCamp and has time to meet with their assigned mentee every 2 weeks, they talk over where they should be in their timeline, help them to identify their issues, and also identify solutions for their issues. people on their talk topics, descriptions, outlines, etc.
    • If you haven’t, there are some behind the scenes admin items that we need help with (letting people in from the waiting room, muting people, checking for questions in the chat that I might miss, etc.)
  • We have 27 signed up. We are aiming for about 35 to register, so help with spreading the word would be much appreciated.
  • October Inclusion workshop: The group started the discussion on what format workshop should be to be able to cover more of the material:
    • 2.5 hours on one day
    • 2 days (1h 30m each)
    • 3 days (1h each)

  • @onealtr and @santanainniss are collaborating on a new post describing the APAC WP Diversity meeting. This will be an improved place to drive social media posts to to help bringing more community engagement.

Program 1: Diverse Speakers Program

  • 1 Diverse Speaker workshop – with co-facilitator(s)
  • Up to 1 hour community facilitator “Helpdesk” a week

Program 2: Inclusion Program

  • 1 Inclusion workshop – with co-facilitator(s)

Program 3: Diverse Speaker Support Program

  • Speaker placement: At least 1 person applies to speak, gets accepted to speak, or gets mentorship in our channel each month
  • At least 20% workshop participants registration in the #diverse-speaker-support Slack channel (but trying to aim for 25% or more, if possible)

Running the Group

  • Bi-weekly group meetings – with volunteer facilitators
  • At least 1 new volunteer joins

Details

A big focus for this year is going to be helping our team and the community (event organizers and anyone who is interested) facilitate our two workshops, especially our speakers workshop.

In order to do this, I will hold our workshops quarterly, and invite people to co-facilitate and/or attend the workshops in order to start learning how to run them.

I will also be answering everyone’s questions about how to hold the workshop on #diverse-speaker-support.

Of note: The Inclusion program, instead of being 3 months for each cohort that we were doing previously, we will now have a 2- month cadence:
